Beatles: Rock Band tracklist - just let it be, or want to twist and shout?

A quick look at The Beatles: Rock Band's confirmed track list reveals the exclusion of a large number of classic Beatles tracks. 44 of the 45 songs in the game have been confirmed, which means that all of these songs (bar potentially one of them) will not be included on the disc:

  1. Hey Jude
  2. From Me to You
  3. Let it Be
  4. Love Me Do
  5. She Loves You
  6. Help
  7. The Long and Winding Road
  8. Yesterday
  9. We Can Work it Out
  10. Penny Lane
  11. Eleanor Rigby
  12. All You Need is Love (available to purchase for Xbox 360 as DLC on day one, with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders)
  13. Lady Madonna
  14. The Ballad of John and Yoko

All you need is 45 songs we've chosen for you...

While it's possible that some (or most) of these songs will appear in the long and winding road of post-launch DLC there's some huge tracks that have been overlooked. Some of these might be because they wouldn't work particularly well but given that they're all confirmed number one hits their presence will be sorely missed.

What do you think about the game's soundtrack and what has/hasn't been included? Are you just glad that The Beatles' songs are finally going to appear in a videogame, or were you hoping for a more definitive collection?

I'm pretty happy with the games set list, to be honest. Sure, there are some brilliant songs missed out, but I think they have done a great job of getting an eclectic mix of beatles songs. And the post release DLC will definitely help too. As for the last song, I think it's going to be Hey Jude. Imagine ending the game with that!

I think its a very good mix. To be honest, I had more fun playing the earlier songs because they really show off the distinct harmony of the band. The later stuff is great, and I'm so happy its included, but the inclusion of early works makes me very happy!

It's a great mix and I'm so glad that it's coming out, but I'm sad. There's no way this game will outsell Guitar Hero 5.

I'm disappointed that those very songs you mentioned wouldn't be on the disk, and those are a few of my favourites - many on the disk I haven't heard. I might get it if they do a updated one in a years time or something when it comes with extra tracks or something, or at least the game is a lot cheaper.

I can understand "Yesterday" not being there. It's totally acoustic and no drums at all. Same goes for "Eleanor Rigby". The one I can't understand is "Help!" I expect the last single is going to be "Let It Be", because it's got a good guitar solo in the middle, but I personally actually want the little known "It's All Too Much". Overall the Beatlemaniac in me is quite impressed by the list though.

With a group like the Beatles, whose list of songs is quite lengthy and extensive, I am just a little surprised that there are only 45 songs included in the game to begin with. Guitar Hero 5 is almost doubling that number. Granted they are pulling from multiple artists, but I would have expected somewhere around the number of 60. All in all, though, the songs they did choose are some classic Beatles numbers.

am I the only one that wants rocky raccoon in that game?

Aren't songs 3 and 15 the same?? I think we'll have to wait and play the Story Mode in order to have an opinion whether we like the tracklist or not. It's pretty hard to reduce the Beatles history to 45 songs, and I agree that there are some songs that were included that are not as great as Help! or Hey Jude! but maybe they fit better in the idea of the development of this game. It's a Beatles' game, and whatever they picked Beatles fan are gonna buy it, and not-so-fans will get to know some not-so-popular songs. I'm happy with the track list and I'm sure that we'll have a lot of DLC to satisfy any tastes.

I think they definitely picked some really good tracks for the game's set list. But on the other hand they did miss out on alot of good classic tracks. Im sure there will be many more tracks to come via DLC

I think it is a good list, yes there are many tracks that I would love to see, but all in all, I think it will be a great game.

This game looks very good for those Beatles fans. Like me! Can't wait.

Great set list. I just wish Maxwell Silver Hammer would of been on there. Love that bass line.

All those songs + Strawberry Feilds and Free as a Bird Eventually..... I would personally like to see A Hard Days Night Album for DLC. But if they dont have any more than the 3 Albums i will hate Harmonix and RB with a Burning Passion..........

Honestly, I stopped buying Rock Band after the first one came out. Yeah, it was fun, but after breaking the instruments while working so hard (without meaning to break them) I lost my touch with them. Was nice to get friends together to do it. I honestly think The Beatles version is aimed at the older crowd.

I think those songs listed by you are very iconic and must have been included in the disc.
By no means the 45 included tracks are bad; but the average "musical" games include 85+ tracks and its a given that the above tracks will be available eventually as DLC, but still $60 for 45 tracks.....I mean, "yesterday" and "Let it Be" not included as default tracks? Come on!

I agree with the list of confirmed tracks. It's a reasonable assumption that many of favorites, such as Across the Universe, Cry Baby Cry and Yesterday, to name a few(plus I'm Only Sleeping, awesome song, just have to say) will be difficult to translate to the game. But no "Help"? Honestly, my favorite song they ever did, and it's not there? That is peculiar to me... the only exclusion I don't understand...

cool!

45 doesn't really sound like much, but since it's all dedicated to The Beatles, I guess it is. Still though. Glad to see a lot of good tracks thrown in there and not just a bunch of filler.
