I'm In Love....
... with a college!
As some of you may know, I went to Boston with my family to go look at colleges... now I'm back and I found one that I LOVE.
Emerson Liberal Arts College...
*Squee*
I have found my people.
My brother absolutely hated it. He didn't even want to go on the tour after the presentation, but I was very into going.
The tour guys were all these flamboyant guys and they weren't wearing khaki and they looked like normal people (unlike the son of a guns at Boston University... ew... I hated that place) The flamboyant guys went around the room and had us all introduce ourselves and tell everyone what our favorite color was.

I loved Emerson...
I also liked North Eastern... but it wasn't a liberal arts college... sad..
They do have this nifty Co-Op thing where you go to college for five years, but you participate in these paid internships that give you experience. They also had tunnels underground that you walk through when it's raining or too cold. That means I would never have to experience nature.

My parents and I went to visit Harvard the day before it came out... biggest mistake ever.
It was full of a bunch of freaks waiting in line till midnight.
They even changed the sign from "Harvard Square" to "Hogwarts Square."
Disgusting.
Then there was this band setting up in the middle of the Harvard Court Yard (the band was full of a bunch of little 7 year old... dreadful) and they were all flocking over there to listen to it... the guys who were setting up the sound equipment gave us directions on how to get the heck out of there and they said, "Take us with you..."
Poor guys...
Anyway, my dad did not appreciate Boston.. he was being a cranky pants and wouldn't relax. Eventually, he got sick of our sarcasm (my siblings and I's) and he refused to walk with us... he was at least 20 Feet away from us at all times.
So much fun.
The sleeping arrangements..... ![]()
I am the world's lightest sleeper... no joke... and my dad is the ultimate snorer... horrible.
My entire family (five of us) slept in one room that had two full sized beds. I slept in one bed with my sister, my parents slept in the other, and my brother slept in a cot.
In the two nights that we stayed in Boston, I got a total of four hours of sleep...
First, the snore monster.
My dad did everything to prevent his snoring: Nasal strip, throat spray, exc... And I tried to wear ear plugs (I really did) but they hurt so much!
The other reason I got no sleep... My darling little sister...
She's like a spinning top! She moves so much during the night, I was on the edge of the bed! One time, I woke up and she was spooning me! Then, another time she was SCREAMING in her sleep! She was speaking complete gibberish, but she was SCREAMING! On the second night we were in Boston, I slept on the floor of the bathroom in my brother's sleeping bag.... For some reason my parents really, really hated that... they screamed at me for a half an hour... Don't know why... I got two hours of sleep doing it!
Then after Boston... my parents felt the need to go to Salem where the Witch trials occurred... when we were there we got TWO hotel rooms and i didn't have to sleep in the same bed as my sister... excellent..
I also bought the Harry Potter Book in Salem.. appropriate? I think so. I only got to page 500 though, because my parents would not leave me ALONE!!!!!! GAH!!!!
They made us walk every where with them! So annoying! I don't care about the adorable little shops of the grave yard, or even the port! I just wanted to watch my Bill Mahr Special on HBO!
Which I got to do eventually.
After Salem my parents were at a loss so we went North... drove around and got a hotel... worst night sleep ever.
Again we were in the Boston hotel arrangements! GAH!!!!!!
Only this time, we were in a hotel with paper thin walls and the couple in the room next to us we being very loud about their... ca-noodling...
My dad started snoring around 12:45 and my sister was moving like a spin cycle... she kicked me in the face and I decided it was time to try out the bathroom floor.
at around 4:30 my brother started banging on the bathroom door... apparently that sea food had been a mistake.
I relocated to the bed again and listened to my sister scream like she was Emily Rose.
I'm glad to be back at my Aunt and Uncles.... but I'm ready to go back to work.
Sexual Harassment When You Least Expected It....
Do you ever get a feeling that your shampoo bottle is coming on to you?
Because I do...
I was in the shower this morning (getting ready for the beach... I'm at Cape Cod at the moment...) and I was reading my shampoo bottle... and I feel violated...
I looked at the front (for the first time) andnoticed that it said this...
---------------------------
Herbal Essences
Body Envy
Get a lift in all theright places.
-------------------------------------------------
My first thought was... okay.. that deserves a dirrty!
Then I mistakenly read the back...
-----------------------------
It's all about body with my weightless formula fused with white nectarine & pink coral flower.
This exhilarating clean will lift you up. And my fresh lather will leave you with lush, full volume that moves naturally.
Think it's uplifting?
***
Use me: work me into a lather-frenzy! Are you full yet?
--------------------------
First off, they give the shampoo bottle personifications... making it a person... now ifa person said this to you wouldn't you think the worst?
Then if that wasn't enough, I had to look at the herbalheadgames.... oh god...
-----------------------
What is the most popular sport played in nudist colonies?
------------------------------------
then you have to look on the conditioner for the answer...
---------------------------------
answer: Volleyball
-------------------
thanks shampoo bottle for putting that lovely image in my head... you sicko.
I didn't have the heart to read the conditioner bottle...that is an event for another day....
bye, I'm going to the beachto tan...
Love,

The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming!
I have to make this quick, because my parents are going crazy.
I'm going to Boston for an unestablished amount of time... Yeah that's right, they won't tell me.
I'm going up there to look at colleges, but I'm also going to be a tourist (I have my fanny pack all ready! It's pink!) I'm going to the beach in MA as well... We are going to be staying with my Aunt and Uncle for about a week, so I'm guessing I'm going to be gone from anywhere between two weeks and FOREVER!
You would think that the amount of clothes I packed would be a clue, but they said we will be doing laundry...
I have to go, crazy people are calling me! We were supposed to leave at 8, but now it's 8:30! It's going to be a lllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg drive but that is all they will tell me... AGAIN!!!
See Ari, this is why I HATE censorship.
To Blog or not to blog? That is the question...
Hmm...
This will be a very short blog... because it's basically the prequel...
To the actual blog that is.
I'm thinking about blogging about something that would explain a lot about myself... but I mean not to offend.
Only to inform.
And on this site, whenever I try to inform, I only end up offending people.
Of course, this blog will be something completely different from my nit-picky grammar...
So.
Yeah.
What You Should Be Doing, but You're Not... Part One: Twilight and New Moon
What You Should Be Doing, but You're Not...
Part One
Well hello there people. I just got a new wireless keyboard, so I'm all into typing today. Because frankly, this keyboard doesn't make me want to gnaw my fingers off.
I'm bored, so I'm going to be incredibly pompous and tell you what you should be reading, listening to, and watching during the summer... or whenever you have the chance... This is the first part... I plan to have multiple parts.
I'll grade the things as well...
A= Absolutely Amazing
B= Bombs Boredom.
C= Could be interesting
D= Drown it in detergent
F= F-ing fling it across the room
Books
Twilight/New Moon I know I keep going on and on about this book but I think you should all read it. (Not so sure it's Tdalec's taste though.)
Summary Twilight:Twilight is a book about a girl who has to move from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to a dreary town called Forks, Washington. The girl moves in with her estranged father and goes to her first day of school expecting it to be horrible... it's exactly how she expects it to be. Except for one thing... at lunch she spots a table full of people that are abnormally perfect and beautiful. One person especially catches her eye... His name is Edward Cullen and the reason why she is so confused about this boy is because he looks at her like he wants to kill her. Little does she know, that that's exactly what he wants to do. Edward is a Vampire... a "good" vampire. Good meaning he is one who abstains from drinking human blood, however, Bella (the girl) seems to be his weakness. Edward spends months trying to not kill her and finally decides to become her friend. There are three things that Bella knows. 1. Edward is a vampire 2. There's a part of him-how big a part, she isn't sure-that truly thirsts for her blood 3. She is unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.
SPOILERS: Half the book is about Edward trying to deny his feelings for Bella and him trying to stay away from her (for her own safety.) For just as Bella thinks that she is not good enough for him, Edward thinks he is a monster and isn't good enough for her.
Summary New Moon:New Moon is the sequel to Twilight. It'smuch sadder than the first one
SPOILERS:, for in the second chapter, Edward leaves Bella, claiming to not love her anymore. She takes it horribly and gets into a funk for months, everything passes by without her noticing. The passing months are portrayed by writing them down on a blank page for each one (September,October, December, exc.) The book portrays the aftermath of loosing your true soul mate. Bella goes through a hard time that makes everyone think she is crazy. And maybe she is, for whenever she is doingsomething dangerousthe angry voice of Edward pops into her head awakening her broken heart.
She continues to do dangerous things to hear his voice again and ends up befriending a forgotten acquaintance. His name is Jacob Black and he lives in a town not far away from Forks. At first, everything is fine, Bella and Jacob become best friends, but Jacob is in love with her. Bella can't reciprocate the feelings because her heart belongs to Edward. Jacob is crushed but promises her he will never hurt her and he will never stop trying to win her over. Bella compares herself to Juliet (in Romeo and Juliet) and wonders what would have happened if Romeo had gotten bored of Juliet. Would she have lived happilly ever after with Paris? What if Paris had been her best friend? Would she have been able to give him half of her heart that was squashed by Romeo.
She considers becoming Jacob's girlfriend(to make everything easier), but Jacob disapears. It turns out that Jacob is a Werewolf, the sworn enemies of the Vampires. Bella istorn between the two groups, but starts hanging out with the Werewolfs, because Edward is not coming back. Just as she and Jacob are about to get together, Alice (Edward's sister) shows up to check up on her. They later find out that Edward is in trouble (because he thinks that Bella is dead, so he wants to kill himself. It's very Romeo and Juliet) and the only one who can save him is Bella. Bella later finds out that Edward only left because he thought she would be safer without him... he was wrong and he returns.
This angers Jacob and he tells Bella he can not be friends with a person who is with a vampire. This hurts Bella but she wants, no needs to be with Edward. In the end, Bella begs to be turned into a vampire, something Edward does not agree with because he feels when you become a vampire you no longer have your soul.
Review Twilight: Twilight first fell into my lap at school... I mean literally fell into my lap... It was actually thrown at me by a friend. The cover got me interested. It was a picture of a pale pair of hands holding a red apple. I thought, cool. Then I read the back and I was immediately turned off. Vampire? I wasn't one for the horror books. Also, another thing that turned me off was the Young Readers stamped on the back. I can't stand Younger Readers books. For me, it's synonymous with crap-fest. My friend wouldn't let me get away with it that easily though.. she forced me to take it. So here I am walking around the school with this book (it wouldn't fit in my canvas bag that I use for a book bag.)
At First, I found it very hard to get into the book, not because it was hard, but because every time I started reading it someone would snatch it away from me and squeal, "This is the best book EVA!!!!" Annoying as hell. Even one of my other friends, who I had seen reading the book a week ago, kept taking it away from me at lunch and selecting moments in the book to re-read. So I took the book home and sat down to read it. I couldn't put it down. Stephanie Meyer portrays a dark romance that makes you fall in love with the main boy (Edward.) And it makes you feel like you are right there with Bella. You begin to feel attached to the characters and you can't allow your self to put it down, before you know that they are okay. I finished the book in about four hours (it's like a 550 page book.) The next day I went to the library and reserved the book (some idiot had it checked out.) And then I went back to school... there were like 30 people walking around with the sequel and I wanted to mug them... I also checked everyone of them to make sure their copy wasn't the one from the public library (that was late.) Finally... about a week ago I got the sequel.
Don't be turned off by the Young Reader stamp. I expected a book about a pretty, popular, cheerleader type girl who falls in love with the popular guy who is secretly a vampire, but that's not the case. The main character, Bella, is a smart, shy, clumsy girl who is so unsure of herself and has very low self-esteem. She can't believe Edward is even looking at her. It makes you relate to character and it doesn't make me want to punch her in the face. For she is not a typical, caddy high school student. She is ordinary, but Edward finds her extraordinary.
Review New Moon: About a week ago I got New Moonand I finished it in two days, because I was reading it at work. The book is much sadder and is interesting because it has allusions from Romeo and Juliet. My only complaint about this book is that there is too much Jacob, I don't like Jacob. Andif you read it you will understand.
Over all:These books put you in a trance that makes feel like you are right there in the book. It's a very easy read, which is why I give it a B (I like more challenging books.) Thebooks address the info that are facts about vampires (not being able to sleep, sucking blood, exc)and what are myths (like not showing up in mirrors, stake through the heart, turning into a bat.) The book is so enchanting and feels so real that you forget that it has anything to do with vampires.
The third book, Eclipse, comes out on August 7th (I think...I'll have to double check that later.) And I'm definitely going to get it.
Grade: B+
