Scrubs Rumors

So every once in a while I head on over to eonline.com and check out Kristen's column. Apparently there are rumors that NBC is considering moving Studio 60 (Matthew Perry's show) to Monday so it won't be head to head with Grey's. So anyway, there are rumors that if that happens, then NBC will put Scrubs on at 9pm on Thursdays against Grey's. AHHHHHH!!!

What to do, what to do! I may have to finally give in and get Tivo. If it came down to it though, I think I'd watch Scrubs then switch to Grey's. Scrubs would get killed by Grey's but it's kinda strange in that Scrubs and Grey's are Touchtone productions so NBC would be using a show it doesn't really care about and is produced by ABC's parent company to take the hit. NBC treats this show like crap yet it doesn't want to give it back to ABC. Grrrrr! NBC was my fav station but I am slowly starting to detest it (especially with the way they treat Scrubs).

WTF NBC? If you don't know what to do with Scrubs, let ABC have it!!!!!

So I've been kind of looking forward to today because NBC announced its 2006 fall schedule. I looked all over for Scrubs and did not see it. I thought for a moment that NBC had cancelled it, and was happy, because ABC would pick it up and treat it like the gem that it is. Nope instead, NBC picked it up for a sixth season but doesn't know what to do with it... so they'll leave it off the schedule until midseason.

What the heck? I'm so pissed at NBC, it's like they're one of those kids that you hate... they know that you (ABC) want something that they have (Scrubs). But they don't really understand it or appreciate it (Scrubs). The only thing they know is that they have it and you want it so they're gonna keep it. Even if it means keeping it and tossing it on the side (leave off till midseason), they're going to do whatever they can to keep it away from you.

Short version: NBC to ABC: ne-ner, ne-ner. Finders, keepers, losers, weepers. You're never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it, never gonna get it, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

As you can see from this post, I gues J.D.'s daydreams have kinda affected me.

John Krasinski on The Tonight Show / Review of Conflict Resolution

I was just about to go to sleep when I was flipping through the channels and Jay announced that John Krasinski (Jim) was on tonight. I decided to stay up and watch... and I wasn't disappointed. I love The Office (most of the time), and John's character, Jim, reminds me of a couple of guy friends I've had over the years, and it makes me think that's why he's my favorite character on The Office.

On the Tonight Show he was pretty funny, but I almost didn't believe some of his stories because they sounded so far fetched... getting back at his brother by hurling a lawn dart in his direction thinking that it would wiz by him but hitting him in the head instead.

Anyway, I just love when Jim messes with Dwight (Rainn Wilson). Last week's episode was so funny to me because Michael (Steve Carell) was trying to mediate an argument between Dwight and Jim and started reading off the different complaints Dwight had made. It was so funny because it was one joke after another after another... putting nickels into Dwight's telephone handset over a long period of time so he'd get used to the weight, then removing them all so Dwight would hit himself in the head with the telephone... all of Dwight's pens and pencils were replaced with crayons, Jim paid everyone to call Dwight "Dwayne" for a whole day, everytime Dwight typed his name, it said "Diapers," etc.

Jim says that they don't sound so funny one after another, but I have to disagree, it is HILARIOUS! And the fact that we're only hearing about them makes them that much more funny because your imagination can make it a lot worse (or funnier) than if they had actually showed it.

As an added bonus to the listing of all the things Jim's done to Dwight, we also see him mess with Dwight's security badge. So Dwight "Fart" Schrute is now a Security Threat... classic. I also love when Jim looks into the camera and has some kind of expression, a smirk if he's messing with Dwight, longing if Pam is oblivious to something, etc. It just makes the show seem that much more real, like a welcoming embrace... well at least it seems like that to me

Semi Deja Vu

So I was watching Scrubs tonight and realised what a bad fan I am... J.D. has been looking back on his five years at the hospital and has a feeling of deja vu. The thing is, during this episode, there were little bits here and there from previous Scrubs episodes. I recognized a few bits, some were vaguely familiar and some I don't remember at all... even when J.D. is narrating that he was having deja vu.

What sealed it for me was the whole nickel/quarter joke. I know I've heard it before, and I know that it was in a Scrubs episode but I totally forgot that the janitor and the cafeteria guy took out their frustration by damaging J.D.'s bike. It was funny in one sense because of the way the bike looked, and the way they decided to exact revenge... But I felt kind of guilty that I didn't remember that had happened before... even though J.D. was narrating something like, "Oh, yeah, that's what happened to my bike" (he forgot too).

On a happier note, I loved the welcome back Coxer gag. Dr. Cox with a fro... priceless!

Phil of the Future - Pheremonally Yours

I have to admit that I am kinda addicted to the Disney Channel. I've seen this episode many times, and while I think the quality of sitcoms on the Disney Channel has declined in recent years (try comparing The Suite Life of Zach and Cody, Lizzie McGuire, or That's so Raven with older shows like So Weird, Flash Forward, and In a Heartbeat), Phil of the Future is okay... or was. I kind of miss the Debbie Berwick and Bradley Farmer characters. I think they're more interesting than the fashion squad or whatever those snobby girls are known as. The Tia character, played by Brenda Song, has left too. I actually have mixed feelings about this. On the one had she could be annoying at times (who could be that dumb and heartless?), but on the other hand I sometimes enjoyed her banter with Keely. Brenda is pretty much playing the same character on The Suite Life, except that she's super rich.

The Future of Scrubs

I guess I'm not always the most loyal television viewer. I watched and fell in love with Scrubs when it started, and I eventually stopped watching sometime around season three or four. I rediscovered Scrubs this season and am glad that it's still on the air.

That being said, I'm currently waiting (with many other fans) to hear the fate of this show. I've searched many sites and came to the happy conclusion that this show will be on next year. There have been some rumors that NBC has already signed Scrubs for a sixth season, and I'm not sure if that's true or not. However, I'm pretty sure that if NBC does axe Scrubs that ABC will pick it up. You see, Scrubs in a strange situation, it airs on NBC but is developed by Touchtone (which is affiliated with ABC). I love this show and will be happy to watch it on NBC or ABC... I just wish the networks would announce their fall schedules already.

Trying to get to Level 2

So I guess one way of getting to Level 2 is by posting blogs, or writing reviews. I'm not much for reviewing things where everyone will see them so if I decide to review a show for better Level rankings, I'll probably do it here.

As you've probably guessed from the title of this post, I'm trying to get to Level 2 right now. So until tomorrow, when I'll probably review MNIE and The Office, keep watching quality television!

Bye bye Arrested Development

So, I haven't written in a while because I don't think anyone cares or is reading. I might as well just post for me!

With the end of season 3 of Arrested Development, I was hoping that it might be renewed (I don't care by whom, FOX, ABC, Showtime...) but it seems that Mitch is burnt out. (http://comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=13831)

I was so sad watching the last four episodes instead of watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics... That's right! FOX decided to burn off the last four episodes opposite the opening ceremonies!

On the other hand, I'm glad that I found this gem of a show before the ax fell, that I was around while new episodes were being created, and reading reactions to the episodes on televisionwithoutpity.com

It's a sad way for the best television comedy to end but I'll be looking forward to a possible movie. Keep your fingers crossed and keep sending out good thoughts for a movie deal with me, won't you?

Is the Traditional Sitcom Dead?

I keep hearing people saying that the sitcom is dead (or dying) and judging by most of the shows on television, I would have to agree. The standard half hour sitcom shot in a studio with over exaggerated laugh tracks are on the way out... or should be in my opinion. I don't need prompting to laugh at something that is funny. I'll just laugh.

Of the shows on television today, my favorite comedies don't seem to be faring well. My new favorite show is Arrested Development, followed very closesly by Scrubs (my former favorite show) and from what I've seen so far, My Name Is Earl seems could be a great show. I'm still not totally convinced that it won't turn into something old by the end of the season (because of it's somewhat gimicky nature). However, I'll keep watching it for a while. Although critics seem to love it, I can't seem to get into The Office. Sometimes it makes me laugh but other times it doesn't, or sometimes it just offends me. I don't know what to make of that show.

I guess my next posts will detail why I like the shows I do... hopefully I'll be able to convince others to watch my shows

Until next time...
