Rock
Hey y'all. Thought I'd write a lil bloggy/journal thing. Last Thursday, I drove to Cincinnati to see my friends in Dropping Daylight. Always great guys and always great preformers. The new stuff just blows me away everytime I hear it!! They started out the set with Dropping Daylight - War Song. That song kicks ass. If you haven't heard it, get out to a show. It rocks! But my favorite of the new stuff has got to be Dropping Daylight - Tell Me. Either that or Dropping Daylight - Soliloquy (My Own way Out). Yup. Anyone been to some good concerts? I want to catch another Down and Above show, but I live too far away. I have heard that their new songs are **** good. Oh well. Someday for sure.

Television
I don't watch much TV, and yet it influences my life everyday. This is my first little blog on TV, so there won't be much point, but obviously television has an effect on all of us. Each show has a purpose, and with each show that we watch, we grow in character and personality. Thats why there are mostly comedies in my favorites. Because I feel laughter and comedy is key to bringing together new relationships and sustaining long term ones. Without the common bond of this essential tool, we would not be human.
Recent Reviews
At first, I'll be honest, I was unsure if I liked this third installment of Hoobastank. They have been a mainstay of pop-rock radio for years now and this album is definitely a move away from the successful formula that they have used in the past. However, they do a very good job. Additional instruments are incorporated and some great melodies are shown off. Overall, the album is worth the buy.

Three Days Grace shows what sophomore slump really means with their second album "One-X." This album is bland, and thats giving it a little credit. I have to admit, after hearing the first single, I was a little impressed. But after listening to the album a couple times, I can say that I will never listen to it again. The terrible lyrics and unimpressive guitar riffs only show the horrific state of mainstream rock music today.

No doubt, listeners who own What It Is To Burn were probobly taken aback by this record. However, there were two distinct possibilities of where this band was heading: a. a pop punk cd with very little hardcore, or b. a straight up post-hardcore mesh stemming from their work with Daryl Palumbo. Listening to this CD for the first time, I had my doubts. There wasn't anything that really caught my ear as catchy. However, listening to it over and over made me realize that Finch put the time and effort into writing every song. Songs to listen to: Insomniatic Meat, Brother Bleed Brother, A Piece of Mind, Ravenous, Dreams of Psilocybin.

Ok, don't get me wrong. I love the guitars. I love guitars like its my job. The guitars on this album sound great, and there is some great chord structure. Plus the palm muting is sick. But overall, the disc is predictable. Some songs have different structures, but the overall feel of every song is pretty similar; even having some of the same beats. Obviously this is what they wanted and thats great. "Is this my fate?" he asked them is a great song. Best lyrics on the disc no doubt, and that verse guitar riff really makes you wanna move. Other high points include Taste the Poison and Sleep.

TFK definitely stepped it up in the songwriting department. "Absolute" is on rock radio and it is a showcase of the bands message and their new direction: Rock. Forget the old rap-rock phase, this band is now a rock band. Trevor lets go of the whole rapping thing and their are some great melodies and rhythms in this album. Some of my favorites include "Hurt", "The Art of Breaking" and "Make Me A Believer."
