Loveless, West Wing, Prison Break

I finished watching 'Loveless' today...

While I generally enjoyed the series, I have to admit that the ending was rather weird. Since I've only seen the raw scans of the manga (and I have no idea how to read kanji, which is okay by me though) I couldn't make much of it, so I don't know how much of the manga got realized into that last ep...but the thing with the computer game was in it as far as I can tell.

I still like the series. Maybe I even love it. It's, I have to admit, the first show with this graphic shounen-ai elements I have seen but I don't mind. It's cute. It's about commitment, love...maybe growing up. Ritsuka growing into surpassing his true name, learning to accept affection brought to him by the people around him and learning to give affections to others. Although I'd say all of the side characters do have that influence on him and bring him that far, Soubi is an important key to all of this.

Soubi's character is special. I need to analyze him a bit further soon....maybe I'll get to write a review soon.

Furthermore I continued with The West Wing. Not much commenting on that, it's nothing that special but it's a decent watch. I don't need to keep it though, I'll just give it back afterwards.

I also watched the pilot to 'Prison Break'. That will hopefully be a decent show this fall.

Politics rant & weekly fixes

You know, I finally started with the 'West Wing'. Since this is not shown in my country I once again have to see that I get it through other channels...thanks to whoever invented DVDs.

However, I like this show. I've been rather fed up with politics ever since I graduated, seeing that it REALLY was the same time and time and time again since...let's say 60 or so years. In my country as well as overseas with always the same premise:
The people are too dumb too get their own act together.
I'm not blaiming politicians here (although Mr. Bush really is as dumb as the people who elected him but that's a totally different perspective anyway), they're only doing their job. The problem is that they can't do their job when the people don't see that they are. Sure, some measures aren't popular at all, but they still have to be acted out. And when one administration failed to do so the other has to make up for it and the people have to bear with more cuttings and more stuff at once. Sadly, the people are dumb and don't get it. Run to teh opposition. Or even worse, run into extreme directions. Is that a solution? Of course not. But people are idiots.

Anyway, this shouldn't be the topic here. But you see what it's all about and why I'm so fed up with it. Not that we could change anything at all, just the few of us who realize. Those who realize either get desperate and resign (me) or they become politicians and the whole circle starts anew. Why not go into politics? Let's see... Having to deal with this 24/7? No thanks.

Since it's Saturday I also took care of my weekly new episodes fix.

The 4400: I really liked the first season but this second is somehow not really knocking it off. I keep getting bored and it's a bad sign if a show bores me.

The Inside: The story line was a little predictable. I really gotta say this but well, what can I do? I still enjoy the show though since there always is a little character developement and we get to see who the people are and where their motives are coming from. They could have made the plot a little different though. Little blond girls are always evil, one should get used to it.

The Dead Zone: Jennifer Finnigan. I was surprised to see her...and she almost died. It's a little like Devon (Crossing Jordan) is back since she hasn't changed a bit...and her character was rather similar as well.
I was a little disappointed about Johnny's view on the boy being braindead...or rather how he dealt with it. He of all people should know this stuff. Okay, he came back but he wasn't braindead, he always had a readable EEG and wasn't on life support most of the time either.
And also, what happened to teh surgery he should have had? After 'Broken Circle' no one ever lost a word on that. He more or less obviously didn't have it (or did he have it and it was just wasn't mentioned since between 'Broken Circle' and 'The Collector' there actually was a year in between?), so what's with his brain now? A little frustrating it is.

Oh and when that grunty in '.hack//sign' died...I cried so hard... Not only because it was so cute and obviously knew it had to die but... This always reminds me that my dog will soon be dead as well. But I've come to the conclusion, when something that you really love and hold dear dies you're allowed to cry as hard as you want. Bottling up grief inside isn't good, it forever eats at you and makes your heart ache with desparation. At least this is my pov, you can get your own if you like.

And all is Grey again...

As predicted... I finished 'Grey's Anatomy'today... And I'm a little set off, actually. I had expected the season finale to be a bit more closed, as it actually was a series not to be expected to return.

But now there are several...questions.

Did Alex spread Syph throughout the hospital? It seriously wouldn't surprise me. Or is it really normal that people in hospitals have that much....contact with one another? I mean, considering ER and Chicago Hope I really shouldn't expect that much else but that was a little surprising. Then again, where else should they find partners? Doctors with their shifts are more or less married to their jobs and relationships often don't work...so maybe it's better to get someone who understands. And nurses...well nurses are the ones who secretly run a hospital.

How about a show about nurses instead of doctors?

Anyway. Meredith. Poor girl. First she tells Derek her secret, her mother's alzheimers, then gets caught by the chief...(although I really don't expect him to do anything, he knows better than that...and he knows her better, he might give advice but I doubt he'll act anything out as long as it doesn't go on performance)...and then the WIFE shows up. Sweet Jesus, that was no fair. Have to admit, it gave an interesting perspective though. I wonder how that'll turn out, then again I might have an idea: Firsts he splits up with him but already fell for him and therefore gets drawn in his direction again. Seen before, but even heated up such things never get boring. Well, at least she's no nurse.

Kristina (Christina? damn spelling). Pregnant. Guy doesn't knwo nothing. Guy is her teacher. Hmz. Bad bad bad. I already see her keeping the kid though, the 'previously' was too obvious...I think. Would be nic eif the show surprised me though.

Izzie. Does she really have no secrets?

George... Well, his story is kinda closed. Although I really liked how he got on Alex

Well that's it for now.

Medical Dramas...

I've been putting off my medical dramas of the season for quite a long time.

For 'Grey's Anatomy', ABC's midseason drama, this definitely was a mistake since I enjoy this show a lot and can hardly wait to watch new episodes. I only have two left, unfortunately, but looking forward to the pickup next season.

For 'ER' I'm not really sure. The news that Noah Whyle would leave the series was a huge shock for me, in terms of surprise. It always was said Carter would remain until at least the end of season 12, most likely even until the end of the series. I don't know, but Carter certainly belongs to teh staff like no one else and I'm not actually sure that I will ever get used to him not being around. I still have quite some episodes to go with the last season but...I'm not sure when I can get myself to watch them. I will, eventually, but for the moment...
