Life Intervenes

The school is back open again, and although I'm glad it finally is -a month long holiday at home with your family is not very practical-, I'm already looking forward to the next break. I haven't missed the three hours of travel each day, not even for a bit. And by Murphy's Laws, the snow that never made it here at the actual break now has come. So not only I have to travel 3 hours each day but also I have to freeze my a** doing so. Fun, aye?

And the lecturers are really going hard on us this term, we already have lots of work to do, and I've been translating some chapters of a law book on "Law of Succession" since monday. I'm seriously this close to going completely insane. Law is scary and hard enough in your mother tongue, translating it into your mother tongue is a whole another deal. I don't know if you've ever noticed but laws seem to be written in a really weird language that noone ever uses. Civilians can't read.

Other than these, I'm also down with God knows what, I've been running a slight fever for the last week, it comes and it goes, and it's not helping with my work. See, even when I try to talk (write) about something other than them, they manage to work into my sentences. The translations are taking over my whole life!!!

The other day we were at the English Lexis class, and the lecturer was making us read an excerpt from a Dean Koontz book. Then he went on to exlain some sentences of it, there were some references between the lines, some allusions. And one of the was that the main character of the book was being compared to Sigourney Weaver, since she was killing ants in her kitchen with a sray can of insecticide just like she did with the flamethrower in the movie Alien. And this articular lecturer, not only called Sigourney Weaver a "man", but also he went on to tell that the main villain of "his" movie was a huge bug. And the whole time I was going crazy not to tell anything, because you know, correcting a lecturer is like academic suicide, especially when you're just a freshman.

So this is how my week has been so far, how have you guys been? Leave a word, and take care. I have some Hegel to read now. =))

Love,
BuRCu =))

*hugs*

Hey dearest

Not sure to say if I’m glad you are back at school or not, you seem torn about it I’m glad for the positive parts then and I’ll foot-tap the negative ones Sorry to hear this term sounds like a tough one. I know that translating law must be a total pain. Lmao, I agree that lawyers use their own language, pretty undecipherable to the rest of mortals
Awww, too bad you are feeling sick, many people around in the forum have come down with some kind of a flu these last days. Lmfao at the lecturer I bet it was really really hard to bite your tongue, but it was certainly a sensible decision. I guess it was fun enough exchanging funny looks with your classmates, right?
I’ve been good, thank you. First thing first of course, but it’s been really good to see you around. Take care you too, love you this much *spreads arms wide open*

BuRCu, something must have happened to your p-button on your keyboard. ex"p"lain - s"p"ray. I feel like your English teacher.

ocean58: Well, you're actually so right, because I dropped my external hard drive on my laptop and broke quite a few letters, and "p" is one of them. It doesn't co-operate unless I hit it like a maniac on a poking spree. =))

oh I really would have said something to your lecturer he sounds like a dumbarse! Ripley is a god as far as I'm concerned I'm coming down with something too but I'm taking cold pills and that seems to help! Take care.

Fevers are never fun. Hopefully as I write this you are feeling much better. I've been dealing with a nasty cough myself so I can sympathize. *huge hugs and leaves basket of Carmine shaped brownies*
