It's called Risky Business!
Shooting starts on Jim Clemente's episode of Criminal Minds titled "Risky Business" today, which is scheduled to air on 1/20/10. He tells me that it will different than what the fans are accustomed to seeing on the show (but wasn't the award-winning "Lessons Learned" also different?) and it will be terrifying in a very different way.

Expect to see some exclusive photos from the taping here on my blog that no one else will have.

Watch this space!

Far Too Busy

Afternoon people! I really couldn't be more pleased it's the weekend!

It's getting a lot closer to Christmas now which means there's just so much to do. I have yet to buy any presents which is worrying and I haven't even managed to decide on what I want either. Work wise there are more deadlines coming up just before the break so there's not even a minute's rest which I could do with. I need some time to get my college work done which is due in before Christmas and I haven't even started them yet. I used to have time before I played tennis and also during quiet times at work but that just isn't happening this year. It's going to be a busy, busy month for me and I'm not looking forward to it!

I was able to sell off a few more games which were the ones I was undecided on because they are good but I'll probably never play them again. I can't believe how much some of them go for on eBay though. I sold Dead Rising for 10 pounds and it's a good few years old, and I sold Bully for 16.00 even though I only paid 7.00 for it brand new! I bought the Fallout 3 DLC packs that they released on disk and after loading the disk, I found that you only have to install them on the hard drive and use the original disk to play them. It's crazy as I know I can get my money back by selling them on ebay so they're literally free if you get them on disk as I'll still have them once they're gone...

In gaming, I made a start on Modern Warfare 2 which is an excellent game! The graphics are truly stunning and are even better than the original MW game. The weapons are incredible although my one criticism is that there is too much ammo floating around. I suppose they have to give you lots as you can't pick up ammo for your own weapon as you go along, but it doesn't really encourage improvising by using enemies weapons. Maybe because it's the biggest game of the decade, I'm picking out the faults more than I normally do but I think that's good to show it's not completely perfect. The game is very full on and you don't have a minute to rest as you go along. I prefer to move slowly, taking everyone out as I go along but if you stay in one place for any amount of time, I'm almost certain more enemies spawn meaning you constantly have to be moving forwards otherwise it's an endless battle. The only other criticism I could find is that it's often hard to tell apart the enemies from your squad. There's a lot of people on screen and it's hard to work out and literally I just go on which was the person is facing as to who's on what team. I'll point out the good points on Monday!

On tv.com, I hear that I get another mention on the tv.com podcast making me a semi regular now with me being in a quarter of the podcasts so far.

As for TV, I've watched:

How I Met Your Mother 'Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap'. It was great to see something that made the show so popular finally return. Most of the early seasons groundwork has been all but forgotten, especially Barney's catchphrase! It got a bit annoying at the end when nobody would do it though.
Dexter 'Lost Boys' which was truly one of the best episodes the show has ever had. It wasn't overly different to the others but it was just so good. This season started out slowly but has rapidly got better and better.
Heroes 'The Fifth Stage'. I've not really got a lot to say about this one. It wasn't particularly good but hopefully everything should be sorted with Sylar! Now that should mean we've got rid of one of the really annoying characters and have finally got the best one back in his own body...maybe.
90210 'And Away They Go!' It's starting to get much better again now and as it stands there wasn't anything wrong with the episode at all.
Melrose Place 'June'. Another teen drama that had a good week although I don't like how none of them seem to get on despite they all practically live together!
Sons of Anarchy 'Na Trioblóidí'. This season has been getting rave reviews as the underdog show and I can see why. It's been a pretty solid season which is just as good as the first was, with added depth to a lot more of the characters. Sometimes I think it's a bit slow for a show of this type but on the whole there hasn't really been a bad episode.
Rita Rocks 'The Jealous Kind'. The season has kinda stalled a bit at the minute. I'm glad it hasn't focused too much on the pregnancy but now it just doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

Good - How I Met Your Mother 'Slapsgiving 2: Revenge of the Slap', Dexter 'Lost Boys', 90210 'And Away They Go!', Melrose Place 'June', Sons of Anarchy 'Na Trioblóidí'.

Indifferent - Brothers & Sisters 'Pregnant Pause', Family Guy 'Dog Gone', Gossip Girl 'The Treasure of Serena Madre'.

Bad - Heroes 'The Fifth Stage', Rita Rocks 'The Jealous Kind'.

My album for the day is Fame Monster by Lady GaGa.

My shuffle song for the day is 'Hello Sunshine' by Super Furry Animals.

My thing to ponder for today is: Why do banks charge you a 'non-sufficient funds fee' on money they already know you don't have?

New Level! feels like forever LOL

the levels are working (again) apparently as I've gained a new level, woohoo! If there were more info to submit to some of my guides as well as another actor guide I'm trying to get I'd probably level up faster. LOL.

have been around some, checking up on my guides 'n the forums but not very active, 2009 is a sad year for me because the week before Thanksgiving I had to put my precious kitty Cleo down --IDK what she had, couldn't afford to get her fix nor bare her anymore pain 'n suffering she was going through-- I'm getting teary eyed just thinking about her now, thanksgiving wasn't the same without her and now Christmas, new years & beyond will not be the same without my precious kitty.

I miss her more then baseball! :'(

Status Update Dec. 1
AIDS

Hi everybody. I don't feel like doing a whole, involved, blog right now, so I'll just give you some random thoughts.

We had a nice Thanksgiving. I really enjoyed the 4 days off. It worked out best for everybody to have our Thanksgiving on Friday, so we spent most of Thursday cleaning the house. Thankfully, my great family helped.

The menu on Friday: turkey, stuffing, corn casserole, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, pumpkin pie, cherry pie, brownies, and ice cream. I decided not to push myself. This was all pretty easy.

On Sunday we had the annual Hanging of the Greens service at our church. It's one of my favorite special services. We're doing it different this year, and have lit garlands hanging from beams going across the sanctuary, instead of just along the side walls. It's very pretty. But now the garlands cover part of the screen if you sit in the back. We have the words to the songs on the screen. It's not too bad, and they can always move up.

We watched a bunch of movies on TV over the weekend. I can't even remember what all we watched, that's how good they were. But, I wanted to let you know that one of my favorites is now available on hulu.com. Return to Me was available, at least over the weekend. I just looked and found that it expires in a few hours. Bummer. It's a romantic comedy made by Bonnie Hunt. I like her sense of humor. I wish her sitcoms had lasted longer. Of course, now she has a talk show, but I never see it, since it's on when I'm working.

This Date in History: OK, I can't resist imparting a little knowledge. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus, sparking the American Civil Rights movement. Who knew such a small act could change so much? Makes you think, doesn't it?

World AIDS Day: Today is also World AIDS Day, designed to bring awareness to this horrible pandemic. The good news is that the number of new cases has decreased 17% since 2001. However, between 5 and 6 people die of AIDS every minute; 25 million people have died of AIDS since 1981; and there are 14 million AIDS orphans in Africa. Wear your red ribbons proudly.

Just for Fun:

Moving Day
Well, y'all (like, all one of you) shoulda seen this coming. With the way recent changes on TV.com have been, I just don't think I could continue blogging on this here site until things just become more usable in general. Don't trip, I'll still be doing the minimum effort as editorship over my current guides, but you just won't be seeing much of anything in the blogging category until TV.com gets their act together.

Until then, I've set up a wordpress account, so...

Happy Halloween! .. Oh no it's raining.

Looks like another soggy Halloween. Poor kids are gonna have a horrible time Trick'R'Treating in this. I think there are 3 days of the year it should be forbidden to rain: Halloween, Christmas, and Canada Day.
*Also the Marijuana March for those inbibed.

People wearing pine tree costumes.

It's the worst when you're a kid; one time I dressed up as a robot or something and all the cardboard fell apart. It's just not as festive with peoples' decorations keeling over, pumpkins going unlit, and only half as many candy-hunters running through puddles toting umbrellas and galoshes.

Zombie Fisherman from

Even a scary dark coat looks silly when it's made of rubber.

Not to mention poor pubescent Pete; he wanted to take his highschool sweetie to the cemetary for some hot grave action and now she's got a perfect excuse not to go: "I don't want to lie on the wet grass." ***k-blocked!

Avril Lavigne reading about the birds and the bees.

FYI, this video is hilarious. Avril Lavigne teaches safe sex 70s $tyle.

I bet the Exorcist Demons and the Michael Myers of the world take one look outside and say "Gee, it's just not as scary in a yellow raincoat, I guess I'll take this year off." OH: Maybe that's why "Halloween 2" came out in August!

Michael Myers from

Speaking of which, if Jason Voorhes only attacks on Friday October the 13th, why the heck are there so many kids at summer camp in the middle of October?

I guess the only Halloweeners undetered by the morbid weather are Linus and Sally, eagerly awaiting their glorious gourdly deity in all his imaginary splendor.

Linus, Charlie Brown, and Snoopy meet The Great Pumpkin.

Oh, and on a show-that-will-not-be named they had the freakiest Obama mask; It haunts my dreams now. Who would want to dress up as a political leader for Halloween?

Scary Barack Obama mask.

AHHH!! Grinning glossy-eyed madness! Take it away, take it away!

Anyways, Happy Halloween!

What goes around comes around
Saw a magazine subscription on sale at one of the daily sale websites. It's called ReadyMade and bills itself as "Instructions for everyday life." When I look at that cover, it strikes me that it's not a new concept. It reminds me strongly of the old Apartment Life magazine, before it became the hoity-toity Metropolitan Home. Cover blurbs include "47 ways to transform your cramped corner into a roomy retreat," "Recycle everything," "Kill kitchen clutter," "Build floating shelves," "Home-brewed hard cider" and "Make art you can sit on." If there were no photos, I'd swear these articles were published over 30 years ago in Apartment Life. And maybe that's not such a bad thing. In these uncertain economic times, we should be going back to basics. Metropolitan Home focuses on fancy furniture that goes for thousands, set in the typically sprawling late 20th/early 21st century American house. Its predecessor and ReadyMade write about making the best of what you have, without breaking the bank and in cramped confines. That can-do DIY spirit we used to have 30 years ago (also seen in Popular Science and Popular Mechanics issues of the day) may just may a comeback. Times were tough then as now. Let's just hope in a few years, we don't lapse back into the wretched excess of the 1980s.

Yes, I have Been Away

Hey all,

As many of you have probably noticed, I've been away a while. I had some health issues that needed to be tended to and I was off tending to them. I'm okay now, feeling much better. I apologize to everyone for not getting back to them or letting anyone know ahead of time. It all happened kind of quickly. I'm back now and trying to catch up, so if you wouldn't mind taking it easy on me for a bit I would appreciate it. The rest of the staff has done a bang up job covering in my absence and I thank them sincerely. I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things quickly. Hope this finds everyone well. - Dan

Submitters: Do not submit new episodes before they are aired!
I've had a long standing policy of not taking submissions for new episodes of shows until after they air. I only have a couple of current shows anyway but networks tend to bump schedules so often that it makes a lot more work for me to go back and "fix" everything afterward, using up time I'd be spending on other guides. Or it opens up the door to gaming by the submitter, who after the fact, goes in and submits changes for the incorrect information they submitted before and gets double points for it.

For one particular show, which gets changed by it's network all the time, I don't take submissions ahead of the air date. If I did, I WOULD FILL THEM IN MYSELF! So if I, who have the same information everyone else does, won't pre-fill in the episodes until they air, I'm not going to take your submissions before they air.

So to all the submitters, the rule is, wait until it airs. If I beat you to it, well, I am the editor of the guide. Remember, the form says: "Date airED"!

I'd like to know what other senior editor's policies are concerning premature submissions.

I am sad and pathetic.

I just seem to have so much going on now. (college!)

I just totally watched "Sympathy for the Devil"

I love Supernatural.

I miss everyone.

And I doubt I'll be hearing from a lot of my old friends on here, because it's been so long.

I would love to hear from all of you.

I miss, and I have love!

Enraged
So I get back from my trip to find all of my 20 submissions for this person rejected, but the day before I left I had the 20 exactly the same submissions accepted for a different person. So does every single staff person handling the queue coming with their own set of rules? Or is there just that one staff member that is out there to get me? I don't get it, wasn't it enough that my rejected subs have 200 submissions that were rejected unfairly?

And as if that wasn't worse, my plea for people to put off submitting resulted in over 60 subs waiting in my queue. Heh, I guess I'll do the other half tomorrow. I haven't even checked the cast forms, but I hope they have finally fixed the import section. Also, when does staff plan to delete the episodes we posted in the forum?

August 29th 09 - Another month past
So almost another month since I blogged last. A lot has happened in my life and yet so little. Got sick twice, went to a few parties, saw a few movies and all stuff like that. In general, I think that it was a good month.

Thing is this, I had this month off at work and everything to study for my last exam which will be next Friday (yes it's crazy to have an exam right before the new semester works. I hate the people who come up which such crappy schedules). It's not like in the US or so where you have all exams in two weeks - here they get spread over the whole summer...
I have quite a few problems with the topic and I worry about the exam on Friday...

Due to my work position I was able to get the final release of Windows 7 and install it on my notebook. It certainly is interesting and it looks like so much that Vista couldn't do is now solved in this version. And it indeed uses way less resources. I like that. So far I only have it on my notebook not yet on my desktop because I plan to replace that one with a high end system once again. However I'm not yet sure if I shall spend so much money on a new PC or not.

What I also plan to buy is a new mobile phone and the first of which I think can compete with the iPhone. Check it out here. Don't get me wrong, I grew up with an Apple, I am an Apple user (although use PCs as well), I just don't like the iPhone much. For me that's just an iPod with phone function. That phone promises some nice stuff.

In other tech stuff, I turned my back on Fedora OS, since they don't appear to be able to get an installer working for me on any of my computers. OpenSUSE crashes once I upgrade to KDE 4.3 - so I ended up with KUbuntu. It took me a heck of a long time to get the PXE server configured to get it working. No wonder when there are typos in the example code on their Wiki page. But finally I got it working.

It certainly was a strange summer for me here. I worked full time for two months, had several though exams, some I passed, one I didn't. As I wrote above, I did a lot this months - and one thing sticks out - no holidays.
Now in mid-September semester starts again. As I still have the urge to get away, even if only for a couple of days, I have organized a few trips now (as finally I could find people who have time to come along). Only (long) weekend trips, but still. For starters I plan to go to the IAA, Europe's biggest car show. That will be mid-September. By the end of the month, I'll be traveling to Amsterdam to have some fun there. And then by the end of October my annual London trip is up again. And more surely will come around to keep me busy till Christmas.

Here on the site the only staff member that really appeared to care is gone and a new one came and was lost in the dark hole aka the nowhere. We at least got the back to episode link back after cast submissions, but now we no longer can import cast.
It's obvious that somebody is constantly working on the site, as minor things change quite often. Still the lack of communication of staff with the users and the failure of keeping promises (new cast form announced by danmod, as example) is just taken to the extreme.
In June I was in the team that built a new website for the place I work for. Before we went live, we tested for one week and could proudly say that we didn't encounter any major bugs, because we caught them. What is happening here is just ridiculous. Here people forget to add simple tags or decide to switch meta tags for no reason which mess with the site. I don't get it.
What surprises me most is how long this site has survived so far.

I think that's all for today. Thanks for reading and take care!

editor-based systems and wiggles
I was reading a cnn.com article that talked about how wikipedia was planning to move to an editor based system, which sounds similar to tv.com, but not really. I could see where the stakeholders in the Wikipedia group would be more concerned about controlling their content. At least on here, we could always point to the neutral source known as the actual broadcast episode or released boxset, and provide fairly reliable official guides and news articles. We editors usually aren't the actors or programming directors ourselves that we could pull rank on our information. I hope they do continue to credit our work on tv.com whenever they cover TV shows.

The Wiggles have moved from Disney to triple-digit cable-land on Sprout. It's cool that they get to do a few new segments, although their Wiggly Waffle show is broadcasting at 6-9am ET, which means 3-6am PT. Ack, I can't stay up late for that. But it's cool to see them do birthday announcements and pseudo-live things after being free from The Mouse.
