A League Above The Rest.
20 Reasons why Justice League Unlimited is brilliant:
1. Batman. When Superman says jump, Batman calls him an idiot and tells him to go to hell.
2. Superhero Action. An army of DC’s best verse and army of cloned super-humans. Brilliant.
3. Green Arrow.
4. Obscure Heroes. Ever heard of Vixen, Fire and Ice, Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Vigilante, Shinning Knight, Bat Lash, Atom Smasher, Aztek the Ultimate Man, Big Barda, Mister Miracle, Blue Devil, B’wana Beast, The Creeper, The Crimson Avenger, Jonah Hex, Elongated Man, Hawk and Dove, Etrigan, Hourman, Mr Terrific, Red Tornado, Rocket Red, Star-Spangled Kid, S.T.R.I.P.E. and Wildcat. Well you have now.
5. Wonder Woman flirting with Batman. They make such a cute couple. Except that episode when she was turned into a pig.
6. Ongoing story arcs. The Cadmus arc has been one of the highlights of the season and have provided real drama and made the original Leaguers questions themselves and their actions. Apart for Batman who’s too stubborn for that sort of thing.
7. Quality Voice Actors. Ben Browder, Jeffery Combs, Amy Acker, Clancy Brown, Dakota Fanning, John C. McGinley, CCH Pounder, J.K. Simmons, Gina Torres, Adam Baldwin, Dennis Farina, Ioan Gruffudd, Juliet Landau, Jason Bateman, Jerry O’Connell and Nathan Fillion to name but a lot.
8. The Question. I demand a spin-off now!
9. Witty Dialogue: "Batman to all points. I could use some air support. Since I can't fly. At all. (Still falling) Now would be good."
10. Characters over icons.
11. For The Man Who Has Everything. Take one of the best Superman stories ever written, take away Robin and produce a fantastic 25 minutes of TV.
12. Hal Jordan cameo.
13. Fanboy Pleasing. With references and homage’s to everything from the Crisis to Super-Friends this is a treasure trove for fanboys everywhere.
14. Booster Gold saving the world.
15. The Suicide Squad. Yes Virginia, there is a Captain Boomerang.
16. Shazam! A Captain Marvel/Superman slugfest can only ever be a good thing.
17. Warren Ellis. My favourite writer on one of my favourite shows.
18. Kid Stuff. Child versions of Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Batman are just funny. So is a baby Etrigan.
19. On what other show would you see Batman playing good cop/bad cop with is future self.
20. Batman singing. No seriously.

A bright light in this celebrity reality hell of ours.
I know I am a sad and often self-involved geek from time to time but I find it gratifying that somehow I live in an age where Doctor Who gets more viewers than the reality crap that ITV subjects their poor viewers too every Saturday night. When did it become acceptable to like the stuffy old time lord and his old police box? When did Daleks become scary again? Are we entering a new golden age where reality TV, quiz shows and Stars In their Eyes are shoved in the grave yard slot they deserves and quality television is once again aloud to grace the Saturday night schedules.
Well the answer is unfortunately NO. For once the Doctor and Rose have closed the TARDIS doors for the season they will leave a great big hole that will most likely be filled with a quiz or reality show. Still at least they wiped the smug smiles off Ant &Dec.
Oh well, is it too much to ask for a new version of Blake’s 7 to pass the time until Season 2.
