TV Guide picture
Okay, so in the picture from TV Guide the car's on a tow truck, its presumably the next day & Grissom still has binoculars in his hand & a worried look on his face. I'm thinking Sara hasn't been found yet.

It looks to me like the hated mustang has a sun roof & Sara is only pinned by an arm. Granted it sounded like the arm went crunch, but at least the insides didn't go scrunch. I'm sticking to my theory that the rain started a flash flood that moves the car & saves Sara.
