When Physical Graffiti came out in 1975, it quickly went to number 1 on the charts. Not only did it do that, it also sent all of Led Zeppelin’s prior albums onto the Billboard charts again. Never has a band have 6 albums on the charts at once. By 1975, Led Zeppelin had written so much music, they had to come out with a double album. Some songs like Kashmir were recorded during the Physical Graffiti sessions. But songs like Houses of the Holy were recorded before. Kashmir is one of the band’s favorite songs and was played at every Led Zeppelin concert from when it came out until they broke up. Currently, the album has sold 16 million copies in the US alone.

Led Zeppelin recorded this amazing album in 1976 in Switzerland. The album took only took 3 weeks to complete, which is a testment to their creative talent and efficiency in the studio. This is the most Metal album the band produced in their 11 years. From the chords of Achilles Last Stand, to the Harmonica solo in Nobody’s fault But Mine, to the closing notes of Tea For One, the only instruments used are John Paul Jones’s bass, Bonzo’s drums and Jimmy Paige’s guitar. There was no synthesizer, piano or keyboards. It was hard core Led Zeppelin at their best. ANYONE into Metal should buy this album. Together with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin invented the genre and this album remains an inspiration to any Metal band.
