This is one of John's Finest albums to date. Starting with 'Niandra LaDes,' and following through to the recent 'D.C. e.p.,' one can really see the improvement that John has made; not only in his life, but his work as well. My favorite track on the record would have to be 'Time Runs Out.' One third of the way through the track, he really changes it up, and we can really see how influenced he was by Nico.

This album is a timeless masterpiece. I thank the Lord every day for John Mglaughlin. You will never find a better group than this - The Mahavishnu Orchestra. Although 'Birds of Fire' would be my personal favorite, I must proclaim the beauty of 'Visions of the Emerald Beyond.' If there is ever a fan of Chick Corea, or Miles Davis who has not heard Mahavishnu, I pity you. There, however, is hope! Download, buy, or obtain every item in their catalogue, and you will then be amazed.
