Nothing Is Sound Switchfoot

I think Nothing Is Sound is truly a timeless album. It talks about Insecurities, sex, sadness and all the emotions that a human being goes through.
Whats unique about this album is that there isnt even one song about a girl. I think this is really brave of them, because its usually sappy love songs or angsty break up ones that sell. Instead, Switchfoot have used this space to write songs like Lonely Nation, Easier than Love and Politicians, to talk about world issues and whats truly important. Some songs have a deep inner meaning like Shadow Proves the Sunshine and Daisy. Then of course, are the hits- Stars and We Are one Tonight, both being truly excellent.

In short, this is a very sentimental album, but does not cross the line of sappiness. Its mellow and kind of runs along the lines of lifehouse....but it completely is WORTH A LISTEN!

Under My Skin

While Let Go was a fun album, revealing the real Avril Lavigne and all her insecurities, Under My Skin takes on a darker note. It mainly talks about relationships more than anything else. The songs have a bit more of a rock element in them. But listening to song after song about her relationship frustrations can be a tad bit frustrating.
No doubt though, that the album is good. Certain tracks like He Wasnt, Fall To Pieces and MY Happy Ending are highly memorable.

My advice is that for those who are looking for a fresh, nippy album like Let go, this wont live up. But go for it anyway, who can resist Avril?? ;D
