The Orphanage is going online

I've been fiddling about with some multiplayer code for The Orphanage, and I can now confirm that it will definitely have a multiplayer component. I'm thinking of several different modes of play:

Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the flag, Elimination

Thrown in for old times sake. I'm thinking I might also find a way to include some slowmo into these modes of play, like Fear's online modes do.

Assassin Hunt

Played in the dark. One player is picked at random to be "The Assassin". The assassin is equipped with night vision, a suppressed pistol and a dark camo combat suit. The other players are equipped with a standard weapon of their choice (not the pistol) and a flashlight. This puts the standard players at a disadvantage because their flashlights and muzzleflash give away their position whereas the assassin can be extremely stealthy. The assassin will need to be very stealthy to defeat the entire squad, and conversly the squad will need to work together and watch each others back if they hope to survive.

There is a points reward for hitting and killing the Assassin, in which case you will respawn as the assassin. When you are playing as the assassin you will win points for killing enemies and a big reward for wiping out the entire squad in which case they will all respawn again.

About Me

A disturbed child from the very beginning, Stuckboy would often crayon images of death at playschool after being exposed to the "Night on a bare mountain" scene from Disney's Fantasia. Since then, he grew up and has since mellowed a little. My hobbies are playing guitar, keyboard and playing and building games. I'm a big fan of old school monkey island games, first person action such as Half life and space combat sims (although there aren't too many of them around at the moment). My current game is called The Orphanage, as you might have guessed. It is designed to be realistic, involving, scary and excessively violent, or as much of this as you can get in a 2d game. It's my tribute to games like Half life and Fear really.
