When recording Let It Be, Paul wanted to retain a "great small band" sound. He was quoted as saying that he thought the Beatles were a great little band. This album was recorded before Abbey Road, but released later. Abbey Road showed no signs of a little band. The composition of the songs was vast, and perhaps helped the members with some of the greatest musicianship they could have ever of hoped to produce. Lennon plays some lead, Ringo does something he has never done before...a solo, Paul shows that he truly knows his way up and down the neck of his bass, and George pens a couple of classics. Also duly noted is Ringo playing piano on his composition, Octapus's Garden (Lennon plays drums). "I Want You" is to this day, a classic piece of work, building to a great cresendo, only to finish abruptly. The B side compilations also sit as well today as they did over thirty years ago, and it is here that we hear three different lead guitarists. Absloute classic album.
