My Chemical Romance is one of the recent bands i actually like. They have hard, agressive music us real punks can relate too...not the light poppy melodies of '06. Their teenagers, but their mature point of view is represented in 'Helena'. They're no classic rock, but I think they have a chance to become great. Songs like 'It's Not Okay (I Promise)' really relate to the audience of today. They are a band any depressed teen can relate too.
This is fast aggressive music that can rattle your mind and rock your stereo.

Punk is dying out. My friend noticed I was playing 'Bonzo Goes to Bitburg' on my iPod and remarked how sad it was that no one listens to the Ramones anymore...and I agree. Another friend remarked it sounded like Kermit the Frog was singing. Im sorry this has happened to music. The Ramones pump everyone up with 'Blitzkreig Bop'. Its a shame the music spot light in America is being absorbed by the likes of Fall Out Boy.
The Ramones were druggies, rebels, and complete stars. They represented the punk generation, whilst this one is more focused on the latest color of Ashlee Simpson's hair. I think i was born in the wrong generation, and i dont want to be represented as part of the mainstream masses. Im 'keeping it real' with the Who and the Ramones, thank you very much.

Queen never gets old. There wont be a football game where Queen isnt played..you wont get bored with this band. Whether it is discovering songs like 'Under Pressure' or thumping out 'Another One Bites the Dust'on your stereo, Queen is timeless. To me, its amazing four people could perform 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. That takes talent. Mercury's unique vocals and May's guitar keep Queen together. Two great rockers passed in '78, Keith Moon and Freddy Mercury. As I said, Queen never gets old, and this was proven as Queen was featured on American Idol two weeks ago.

Green Day could be called punk, yes. But now that 'American Idiot' is being cranked out over the radio waves and Cd players everywhere, I'm not so sure.. I like the older, youthful albums of Green Day. They were heartsick, drugged up teens, to which their audience could relate. I think for American Idiot, Green Day has dipped to dip into politics. Perhaps they wanted to appear more mature, but their teen innocence and lighthearted songs like 'When I Come Around' is what endeared them to me. Legendary rock bands like the Ramones and the Who are being overshadowed by the likes of Fall Out Boy and are forgotten by our generation...and I think that's sad.

I cannot stand Fall Out Boy. This genre of punk/pop really annoys me. But in no way should this be rock...perhaps I'm just spoiled, having listened to bands like The Who and Queen all my life. Fall Out Boy is a perfect example of mainstream punk. It is way overrated in my opinion...on the radio nothing about Fall Out Boy stands out to me, the vocals blend in with the likes of everything else.
One word: mainstream.
