Artist Review

Michael Jackson R&B/Soul/Urban
"All-time favorite"
achievements in music:
michael jackson is a name where it is recognized even in the most remote places in the world for over 35 years now
over this period michael has been a solo aritst and a member of a group'the jackson 5' now known as the jacksons since michael's short leave from 1979.
he came back to the group in 1980 to 1981.
then he left the group indefinitely to be who he is today
with the jacksons he has sold 100 million records.

sounds alot until he tried it for himself the rest of the way
since 1979 to date michael has sold over 220 million records as a solo artist,in total his sales are 320 million to date since 1969.
this includes sales in albums and singles

although elvis, abba and the beatles have sold a billion records each,3 times michael's total,no one even them has an average record sales per album of 20 million and the amount of hits and the biggest selling album of all time'thriller'
this makes him the most succesful musician ever.

michael's album achievements as a solo artists are:

1979's 'off the wall'
15 million global sales to date
7 million in the usa

1982's 'thriller'
53 million global sales to date
26 million in the usa
biggest selling album ever globally
unachieved record sale by anyone yet including himself although he came close a view times
only tracing album is ac/dc 's 'back in black which is at global sales now at 42 million and the eagles'best 1973'1976' which is at 41 million

1985's single'we are the world'
unknown global sales but it is in the top 5
7 million in the usa

1987's 'bad'
27 million global sales to date
8 million in the usa

1991's 'dangerous'
30 million global sales to date
7 million in the usa

1995's 'history'double album, was seperately released but combined also
each record was a different album as one was a greatest hits as the other were new releases but dubbed as a double album, each album sold 18 million copies worldwide
total global sales is 2 times 18 million to an amazing 36 million
in record sales counts he is credited by combined sale of 18 million despite both albums not resembling eachother as the usual traditional double albums
6 million each record in the usa, total 12 million

1997's mini dance album 'blood on the dance floor'remix of 'history'
6 million global sales to date
biggest selling dance album ever
unknown usa sales

2001's 'invincible
6 million global sales
2 million in the usa
big flop for michael, which is weird because at the album's release it had a sale of 5 million copies globally the first 3 months,it just stopped selling afterwards
michael blamed it on sony music allegedly for trying to extort him to be unable to pay his loan by not promoting his albums which would result in him not earning the money to repay the loan to them and could mean michael losing the now 700 million estimated beatles/elvis presley catalogue to sony to who he gave 50 procent for a unknwon amount in return, this is an alleged claim not proven
personally i can understand this claim as none of his album after 'invincible' sold well
the accuser,a big succesful boss and ceo at sony michael pointed out, was fired from sony shortly afterwards the scandal
also michael's arrest in 2003 might continue poor record sales as he is accused of molesting several children under the age of 14,which he is still innocent until proven guilty

current released album since 2003's 'number ones'
unknown global sales
500,000 sale in the usa
this album was released in the fashion as artists like the beatles and bee gees did naming their albums'number ones' woth their number one hits over the years
michael made a pretty penny not from his 'number ones' album but from the beatles 'number ones' as he owns 50 procent of the song rights
their album sold in a period of only 3 years to date at an astonishing 27 million with 9 million in the usa
the album was arranged by paul mccarthney and yoko ono to be released

through all of these musical achievements michael has earned 500 million for the record sales and another 250 million for tours since then
his current fortune is estimated at the lowest of approaching bankruptcy to a higher report of 350 million to the maximum report of 1 billion
michael claimed the latter of 1 billion dollars selfworth, mainly not only because of large amounts of currency but also the catalogue where he outbid paul mcc carthney at an auction in 1985 for 45 million dollars with the songs of superstars like the beatles
it is said that that catalogue could be sold for as much as 700 million dollars, which is the price michael wants
allegedly a few years back michael offered paul to buy back the catalogue for that price and although paul has at least twice that amount in his bank,he declined
it is said that paul wanted to buy it preventing the catalogue be owned by a record company again and then almost be impossible to buy after

it is speculated of michael nearing bankruptcy as he is continuely borrowing large amounts of money including a 200 million cash loan of banks,to a very large amount of sony secured by giving 50 procent of his catalogue of the beatles to sony to hold if he cannot pay the rest
sony will then pay the 200 million dollar debt ans seize the catalogue, all allegedly
i have two speculation is if this claim is true of bankruptcy claimed for years by accusers then 1.how come he is continuing his life without problems or seizings of his property
or 2. if he is so wealthy why is he borrowing such large amounts all the time putting his assets in danger?
all in all i think he is more than well off, which is good for him as he earned all his money honestly

what is going to happen to michael's career is up in the air
will he achieve what he had done in his prime?or will he continue to decline until he absolutely has to retreat from the music business?

we'll see

Album Review

Patience George Michael
"Underappreciated"
is it any good?:
well "patience" is a good album and after hearing it several times a true masterpiece to me,understanding the beats, its lyrics abd george michael's newer style
the 2004 album is a collection of songs from a couple of years like 2002's 'shoot the dog' and 'freeek'(not released in the album within the united states).
in the united states 12 songs of the 14 on the album were released concerning some politicially incorrect opinions stated in some of the songs of the album.
this album is based and written dedicated to michael's relationship with his current partner of 8 years.

what genre?:
this album has a bit of every style in pop imaginable i think.
'amazing' has dance pop for instance as 'round here' has beatle like pop as 'precious box' resembles house.basically most of the album is pop.

any hung ups?:
to my opinion some somber ones were included although, like the title song 'patience','john and elvis are dead','my american angel' but all in all it is worth the buy, great music!

according to sony george's total recors sales are global sales of over 80 million to date

album sales are over 60 million, singles sales unknown worlwide but in britain it is as a solo artist 7 million and with thr group wham 6 million,a combined 13 million

he would surpass ABBA'S total of 10.5 million and even michael jackson's 12 million singles sales in britain and almost tie it with madonna's total whose are 14 million, but his total sales are only counted as a solo artist
nothing to be ashamed of as even the beatles aren't number 1 in singles sales there, the biggest singles seller in britain is cliff richard with an unsurpassed 21 million.

george further ranks as britains 10th richest musician( 2003-2004 readings) with an amassed personal fortune said of between at least 115 million dollars(around 65 million british pounds) to over 200 million dollars( little over 100 million pounds) in assets, real estate and currency.
george owns several homes all over the world, one in texas and one ofcourse in his country in the capital, london.
