Creative Zen Micro (5GB)
""
This would have been one of the top players on the market had it worked! After having bought one and it breaking in a record 6 days! i don't advise buying one till this problem is resolved. The headphone jack comes loose inside the player and the sound is no longer functional. What good is a mp3 player that doesn't play mp3s? I sent it back to the company and got a new one THREE times and had the same problem everytime. The player overall would be a great deal but Creative needs to work out some issues before I buy one again.

Apple iPod Mini (4GB)
""
Apple's iPOD mini has almost the perfect size for an mp3 player. Let's start with bad. 1) Apple's iTunes is required like the rest of the iPod line. If you don't like having to use another piece of software I would recommend something more along the lines of Phillips HDD6330. 2) For me, the bundled headphones are uncomfortable. I would suggest going and buying some good HD headphones to use with it. 3) Mine after a about a month, the hard drive literally fell apart inside. Luckily I had bought the warrenty and I sent it back, and got a new one about 3 months later. I used it for another week or so and then it got an "unexplained bug" meaning that no one at the company could explain what was wrong. I had it "fixed" and then I continued to suffer problems such as: my music would suddenly dissapear or it would lock up randomly.
Amung other things, there are the ones that seem to stand out.
Now the good. 1) It has some games which help to pass the time. Breakout and solitare are fun. 2) The size is what I would like to call "perfect" it's not to big, but it's not so small that I feel like it's going to break in my pocket. 3) The menu response is very fast and the interface is simple. 4) The battery life is really good. It can play for a while without a charge. 5) Finally I like the way the charger is designed. The detachable powerblock from the USB cable is ingenious.

All in all, I am neutral to this player. I love it just about as much as I hate it. There are some things that I really like and others that I just can't stand. I hate iTunes, but I love the size. I do believe that iPod has since then discontinued this product however...

Philips GoGear HDD6330 Jukebox
""
I have had my Phillips GoGear for two months now and I am fairly satisfied with it. Let's start with why I love it: 1) It's so damn sexy, the black with the blue light up glass buttons. Next time you are watching star trek, look at the control panels they use... 2) The reaction you get when you whip it out. With an iPOD it's all the same, "Oh, that's cool, you have an iPOD" or "Yeah I have one too". But with this thing it's always something like "WOW! What is that? That's cool!". 3) It's huge (as in HD space) 30 GB! I have about 3,000 songs on here and it's taking up about 7 GB. I don't know what to do with all the extra space. I dumped all of my pictures on it and still have a butt-load of room. 3.5) Use it as a portable hard drive, there's no software required to do that. (Except Windows XP) 4) The slidshow function. I use it to show my friends the pictures from my trip to Ireland. Plus I have all my Irish music play in the slidshow. 5) Sound quality is as good as I have ever needed. The volume doesn't seem to ever be a problem (I am talking walking through the hallways in a high school) 6) The included headphones are really nice except that they have a rubber coating for some ungodly reason that makes them tangle a bit.
Now the bad 1) The one thing that pisses me off about this the most is the lack of video support. I really wish that they had done that. If they had, screw iPOD, there would be no need, but unfortunatly that's the one thing that makes me say "I kinda wish I had bought one". 2) The "Y" splitter in the power/computer cord. It's somewhat annoying to have to lug the power block around when I want to plug it into my computer. 3) The menu interface has it's good and bad days. It seems to me that on some days the menu response will be lightning fast. But on others it is very slow (especially in playlists) 4) Kinda good/kinda bad on the touchpad. I put this here because most people seem to dislike the touchpad interface. It is very sensitive to touch, but it just takes getting used to (much like sensitivity in Halo :) The touch pad does include superscroll which is handy to use, just, again takes getting used to. But I find when you do, you can pretty much navagaite in my sleep. 5) Only sorta. The screen is made of glass and leaves alot of fingerprints which can be annoying, but is very easy to clean. You can just rub them off with your T-Shirt and what not.

All in all, the Phillips GoGear HDD6330 is stylish and more than sufficient for use. It just leaves somethings to be desired, who knows? Maybe in the future Phillips can just release a firmware upgrade that changes alot of the problems.
