R.I.P. Michael Scofield

Hey everyone. Hope you are all well.

So that was it. Prison Break has finished its four-season story arc, and the chapters of Michael Scofield are now closed for good. I am one of those who really, really enjoyed the Series Finale, and I think the death of Michael was portrayed beautifully. As I am sure many of you have noticed, this end game has been hinted to quite a bit this season, and in many ways it seems almost appropriate, albeit I don't know if I can elaborate on why I feel that way. It just seems like a natural consequence of his character that this would be how it all ended, and although it is sad, I still feel that Michael succeeded with what his intentions were from the very start.

Michael saved his brother from death row, risking his life in the process. After this, he has risked his life over and over again for the people he cares about. In the end of Season 2, he sacrificed himself for Sara, and returned to prison, this time in Panama and Sona. We all remember the famous line "You sacrificed everything for me once. Now it's time to say thank you." Over and over again, Michael has put others well-being and safety before his own. This is something which was touched upon already in the first season, when Sara visited Michael's psychiatrist. I think this is some of the reason why the writers felt that this was the right way to end the show.

The way it was written, with a four year gap in the last episode, was clever and contributed to creating a mood that was appropriate for a Series Finale. Everything seemed carefully planned, from the wonderful song choice (Lay It Down Slow - Spiritualized) to the small details such as the Gandhi quote on the grave stone (reference to when Michael and Sara first met) and the origami crane (reference to his relationship with Linc throughout all four seasons). The way Michael's death also seems to have tied the characters together, and the way they meet up at Michael's grave what seems years after his death, is also something I appreciated a lot. The fact that even though all of them are living their own lives, they still come together and pay their respects to the man they all cared so much about.

Prison Break has been such a great show, and Michael is one of the most memorable characters I have ever had the pleasure to spend my Tuesday evenings with. I won't deny that Season 1 was Prison Break at its peak, and I won't deny that I will miss the show now that it is over - but at the same time, four seasons seems to be a natural end game for the show. As several people have uttered: there are no more stories to tell. The story of Michael Scofield is over, and so is Prison Break. (Though we have one Final Break to look forward to come July! And have you seen the cover? It's HOT!)

Now, if you don't mind, I will go and mourn PB's passing together with my box sets.
Just kidding. I'm looking forward to a full four-season marathon soon enough though.

Hope you all enjoyed the ending as well. And if you didn't, there is always Season 1.
My S1 box set is almost worn out, but they are on sale most places at the moment. If you don't own it, you should rob a bank (and get incarcerated, ey?) and go buy it. It really is timeless.

Take care,

-Tommy.

EDIT:

The comment system is just utterly WEIRD, so I'll just answer you guys directly in my blog. Smart, right?

#Grace

We're so having a S1/2 marathon this summer, so you better keep in shape.

#avi01

Yeah, long time no see! That's my bad though, I haven't been around much in like, er, a year. But I like to pop by on occasion (usually big ones; like PB ending!), and then it's nice to see that some of the regulars are still around.

#vman85

Nice to see you again! And thanks, I'm glad you agree. So, Chuck's the new hot show? I have S1 on DVD, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. I guess I should. This summer, I say!

#ILUVSCOFIELD (aka ILUVMISA, am I not right?)

Yup, sad and fitting are the top key words for this Finale. Aww, I'm glad to hear that I've been missed. That's nice of you to say. And about the OTH Finale, sadly, I'm stuck on 6x06. I just don't know if I want to watch it anymore. For me it all kind of ended on the River Court in the end of S4. Is the rest of S6 good though?

#tursiopsseries

Thanks for the add! I added you back. And I really do understand your bitterness. It's Michael Scofield we're talking about here. But you'll get to acceptance soon enough.

A Day In The Life

HEY!
I wanted to blog. But I dunno about what.

I like trees.

And lyrics.

I read the news today, oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph

He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords

I saw a film today, oh boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look
Having read the book

I'd love to turn you on...

Woke up, got out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late

Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today, oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
I'd love to turn you on...

And Prison Break.
Season 4 is ace.

I wonder if there's anyone left from the old crew on this site anymore.
I guess we'll see about that.

Take care!

From a Mountain in the Middle of the Cabins

Hey everyone! (Or those left on this site anyways...)

As usual, it's been ages since my last blog. January, I think. But I'm waiting for Hundred (OTH) to finish downloading, so I thought I'd just as well do something useful. Although I find it disturbing that I see writing a blog as something useful.

We've got some great news lately, especially great for me. All my favourite shows have been renewed for a new season, Prison Break, Heroes, Supernatural and One Tree Hill. Respectively for Season 4, Season 3, Season 4 and Season 6. So that's just great.

One Tree Hill has been great so far in Season 5, and hopefully this 100th episode will be as great as I think and hope it's going to be. Poor Lindsey, she's done nothing wrong - she's gonna be run down by the massive passion that is Leyton. She's not even gonna know what hit her.

Oh, the dl is finished!

And by the way, blog title is from a track on Panic At The Disco's new album Pretty. Odd. I downloaded it a couple of hours ago, and it's great! 100+ times better than their debut.

See you later, I'm off to see One Tree Hill!

- Tommy.

P.S. Whatever

Hey!

Once again, quite some time since my previous blog. I'd like to say that I just have too little time on my hands, but that would be a lie. I just forget, and everytime I'm about to do it, something comes up.

Anyways, a new year is here, 2008. A year for new seasons of the TV shows we love. Unfortunately, the strike is still ongoing, which sucks big time. I still support the writers, but my patience only go so far. Sooner or later it has to end - either it's with success or not.

We still have some episodes left of most shows though. Prison Break returns tomorrow, which is great. Boxed In is the ninth episode of the season, and the last one before the Christmas hiatus (Bang&Burn)ended with Michael being transferred. We've seen that one before - then he was "rescued" in the eleventh hour by Warden Pope. Who knows what happens this time around.

One Tree Hill is already back, and I'm still amazed, four days after I watched to two first episodes of this fifth season. Mark and his co-producers have done an outstanding job, and both episodes were simply awesome.I found myself smiling for absolutely no reason during the episodes - with the thought "this is so fukcing awesome" in my head. I can't wait for the next episode. Sucks that we only get 12 episodes this season, but with this start - the sky's the limit. We'll go on forever.

And the music, THREE songs from The National's bloody brilliant "Boxer", how could anyone ask for more? I have a feeling that Mark has quite a few aces up his sleeve also this year, when it comes to the magnificent music on OTH. Hopefully, there will be some band appearances this season.

Hmm, what else to write... My life is great at the moment. I'm happy all the time, so happy that I'm actually a bit afraid that something uncool's gonna happen soon. It usually does when I'm too happy. But for now, I'm enjoying it in full lengths.

Most played on my iPod this week: Lucky You - The National

I'll blog again soon, hopefully.

-Tommy

It feels like forever...

Hey guys!

It seems like I haven't blogged in forever, and it has been a while actually. I don't spend as much time here as I used to, much because of the fact that the Prison Break Forum here on TV.com reaches new lows everytime I visit, so I sort of got sick of it. If anyone wants to know where I discuss Prison Break now, it's at the one and only PBreakFans Forum. Great place to be.

Life is good at the moment, school's just school - not particularily exhausting, just boring as always. I have my core of TV shows that I watch (Prison Break, Heroes, Supernatural, Cold Case), and I think the new seasons of all these shows are outstanding. Sucks that PB is on hiatus already, but the three others are going strong.

There's a lot ofstuff going on with this Writers Strike, but I want to stress that I am 100% on the writers' side. They deserve to get what they want, because without them, I would not have the shows I know and love. The studios are the ones who are greedy, and I think the writers should strike as long as they have to, because this is an important battle. So go writers!

It's come to my attention that it's Ana's birthday today, so obviously I have to say: Happy Birthday, Ana! I hope you are having a blast!

I don't know what more to write, or if anyone even visit my profile anymore. I'll try to come around a bit more, to comment blogs and such.

And yeah, before I forget - I'm really excited about S5 of OTH! It could be fantastic, and it could be just weird. I'm hoping for fantastic. Hopefully, the strike won't cause any delays, so that we'll get our show back Jan 2nd.

Most played on my (very new and shiny) iPod the last week: Naïve - The Kooks.

Some YouTube videos worth watching:

PB: A video about Sara's drug addiction

Heroes: Tribute, Season 1 footage

Supernatural: Dean's Batman!

I'll try and blog again soon!
