America's obession: Death/Rape
What is up with the viewership of shows these days. From ER, to CSI almost everyone of the hightest rated showes are very graphically violent.
ER, Csi, Ncsi, Prison Break, Lost,24, Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Greys Antonomy. Most of these are beating the ratings of the second highest rated comedy ( not counting Desperate Houswives).
All of these show death, and America seems obsessed. ER and Greys Anatomy shows people dieing, or on there death bed almost every mintue of the show. They are cutting people open, blood is everywhere. And in the last episode of ER one of their main patiences was a young girl who was raped many times as the docters pointed out.
While shows like lost, Csi, and Ncsi are probably the best of the showes i listed. Lost just has people being hunted down every episode, in the Csi's every episode deals with some elaborate death.
The worst two that i have seen is Law and order SVU or Prison break. Law and order Svu normally just dosent have a murder, but somehow it involves rape, or even wife beating. And in the last prision break episode i saw. (i dont know peoples names sry) The same people who set up his father(ithink), came into his house shot to innocent people that just came back from shopping and then set up the crime scene so it looked like the child did it. And at the end of the episode it appeared that the vice president was in on this.
Now im not trying to lecture you about what to watch or not. Im just making an observation on what america's viewing trends are.

Will and Grace is one of the most successful comedys ever. However i feel that it is overlooked in many peoples minds. Will and Grace has entered its eighth year. In seasons 2-5 it was a top 10 rated television show. It replaced Frasier (while it was still on) on the Must-See NBC lineup. It ran on the very competitive Thursday nights and still got great rating. The ratings have slipped entering its 8th season but it still is consistanty being, Joey, Alias, Everybody Hates Chris, The OC, so far this season.
As im sure everyone knows that there are gay charicters on Will and Grace, but the show is funny and for everyone!!! Even with many people not even see the show refuse to watch it for that fact, the ratings it received should be held in a higher light.
This show has a great cast. All four main cast memebers have one at least one emmy. The show also won the Best Comedy emmy in 2000. beating out Friends, Fraiser, and others. Especially in the first 5 seasons. The charicters were some of the best. And Karen Walker should go down as one of the funniest/best charicters of all time.
Without a doubt Will and Grace has one of the best guest star list of all time. Matt damon, Minnie Driver, Rosie, Ellen, Alec Balwin, Cher, Woody Harleson,Debbie Reynolds, Minnie Driver, Molly Shannon, Patrick Dempsey, JLO, Jason Biggs, Andy Richter, Seth Green, Sharon Stone, Demi Moore, Janet Jackson, Sharon Osborne, Geena Davis, Candice Bergen, Jack Black, Nicollette Sheridan, Madonna, Elton John, Katie Couric, Kevin Bacon, Glenn Close, Michael Douglas, Sara Rue, Joan Collins, and many more,
All of the chariters are real and really funny. Once you get used to them then you can open up and laugh alot. Episodes like Homo for the holidays, Secrets and Lays, I went to a garden potty, watch those and ill know you will love the show!!
