I'm a man of my word

In my last blog I stated that I'd only do one more blog after that one, which was going to be my goodbye notice. Well this is that blog. I have no more motivation to come on here and have the same conversations over and over again. It was fun for a while but it's left me wanting more.

I've made plenty of friends on here, some of which I've cultivated outside of this site and it's for partially that reason I've decided to stop coming here. I, along with some of my other friends on here have created our own online community called "The Board". You can find us at:

the-board.info or the-board.tk. I'm an admin there and so is Famicommander who was recently (and unjustifiably so) banned from here. There are several people from Gamespot that have been banned and The Board has almost become a haven for such users. The discussion is random, exciting and thought provoking. The moderation level is low. The maturity level is considerably high most of the time and the atmosphere is relaxed.

I'm going to maintain this account as I really do like the game collection feature on here but other than that, I'm done posting on forums, unions and in the blogs. I've already assigned new leaders to both of my unions and for the rest of my unions, feel free to kick me from them as you will not see me around any longer.

Have fun with whatever you all do.

Dave

2 blogs left in me

I've only got 2 blogs left in me for this site. This one telling you that I'm done blogging on GS. The next one (after certain events take place) will be to say I'm dropping off the site.

No one reads my blogs anyway and if you do you're not commenting so I must not have much of anything to say. For those of you who did read these, sorry. I'm sure you'll find someone else's thoughts to read.

maybe later,
Dave

The Hook

I like music. I'm sure you do to. I've got us a place to talk about it. It's called The Hook, The Board's music forum. If you're reading this and haven't already started posting on the board, here's your motivating factor.

A good many types of music have their own forums and there's also a musician's forum and a dedicated video game music forum.

You guys should check it out. It's brand new so we need some topics posted up.

See you there!

Later,
Dave

My first handheld!

I got my very first handheld game system today. It's a cobalt blue DS Lite. I've been wanting a handheld and the game library for the PSP didn't really do it for me. Add to that the fact that I can play DS games AND Gameboy Advance games on it, that really pushed me to the DS. I mainly wanted one so that I could play the recent 2D Sonic titles. I've heard that the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush series' are great but I've never had a chance to play them. Now I can all on one system.

I picked up 4 games with it. For DS I got:

Sonic Rush
New Super Mario Brothers

For GBA I got:

Sonic Advance 2
Sonic Advance 3

I broke one of my only rules when buying games today. Never buy the game without the original box. No one in town sells GBA games in the box. They're all just carts. Well, I guess I could have waited a bit, played the DS games and ordered complete copies of the GBA titles from eBay but they were right there and I just got them.

I've got a nice little want list I'm working on for the thing. My rule for buying systems is that there needs to be about a dozen games on the system that I want to play before I'll actually buy the system. Well neither the DS nor the GBA hit that cap but when you combine them it does. Here's my list of titles I'm wanting. For DS I want:

Sonic Rush Adventure
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Contra IV
Metal Slug 7
Nanostray 2
Bangai-O Spirits

For GBA I want:

Sonic Advance
F-Zero GP Legend
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Astro Boy: Omega Factor
Gunstar Super Heroes
Advance Guardian Heroes
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon

I hope I can find all of these games as they all look pretty sweet. The GBA carts will be the challenge but eBay should help alot.

Thanks for reading and comments welcome as always,
Dave

The NEW Gaming Timeline Union

Earlier today I logged on to Gamespot and I saw that I had a message in my inbox. It said that the old leader of the Gaming Timeline Union had stepped down and that I had been appointed the new leader. Alright. I can roll with that. I just had to bring back the union from the brink of devastation!!!

I'm serious you guys. This place was so dead that the union's blood had already coagulated and dried up. Bad times. No activity, no leadership, nothing. So here's what I did today. I deleted the entire forum that had been fermenting in inactivity and created a new set of sticky threads to drum up conversation. I also changed all the graphics (banner, union icon) to give them more coherence in regards to the name of the union.

Finally, I've sent out invites to about half of the people in my friends list. I never send out union invites but I did today. If you got one, it's MY union. I'm not just representing it. I also sent out a telegram to all current members letting them know that the Gaming Timeline union is back and ready to go. If you got one of those, check out the place. You might like what you see.

If you aren't a member and are interested now, just click the link. The union is open to everyone.

Later,
Dave

About Me

I'm very picky about the games I play. My taste in games includes anything that you can pick up and play. Nothing too deep. NO RPGs, RTS, simulation and most stealth games. I usually play games in short bursts so I don't want to think a whole lot, just get in, get out. I own the 3 most common SEGA systems (Genesis/Mega-Drive, Saturn and Dreamcast) as well as a PS3, PS2, Xbox and Wii. I love playing them all but the Genesis is my favorite.
