Hey all! It's been a long time since I have blogged or really done anything on tv.com. Some of you may or may not know that I have a lot of health problems, I actually don't like to talk about it too much. I was diagnosed as having severe Endometriosis via laproscopic surgery (the only way it can be done) nearly 4 years ago. Endometriosis is a disease of the womb and it leaves me in crippling pain. It's also one of those annoying things that there is no cure for and the cause is not known. I also developed a bladder condition a couple of years ago (the doctors are not sure if this is linked to my endo) and for the past few weeks I have been having treatment for this at the hospital. Hence I have been pretty much convalescing. I'd like to send a big thank you out to all the people that occasionally check up on me and
enquire about my health, especially Daria, Bea and Tish who have been very supportive :)
The title of my blog is actually something that Daria says and I go along with this mantra too, I cannot be wasting my time with average, or worse, below average shows, so I have dropped some shows this season. Some are old shows and some are new fall shows which I tried and didn't like:
Ditched shows:
Nurse Jackie. Had a great premiere but afterwards dropped significantly in quality and was very inconsistant.Watched whole season.
Dollhouse. Was really bad to start and got only a little better as the show went on. Poor acting, poor
writing, poorly conceieved. Watched whole first season and second season premiere.
Sanctuary. Had a few good episodes but got bogged down in a rather convoluted mythology with a few plot holes. Watched whole first season and second season premiere.
Modern Family. Was only amusing to me and I think a comedy should be more than just amusing. The "mockumentry" format also adds nothing and makes the show seem pretty forced. Watched three episodes.
Eastwick. Was crap. I don't have any other reason than that. Watched the pilot only.
Bored to Death. Gotta be the least funny "comedy" I have ever seen in my life. Also what sort of egomanic does a show creator have to be to give the main character their exact name? Very lame. Watched first two episodes.
Cougar Town. Too much shouting, not enough funny. You can do better than this Courtney Cox. Watched first two episodes.
So with those ditched shows here is what my fall schedule looks like (as per when they are broadcast in the US)
Monday: NOTHING. so boring. ugh
Tuesday: AGAIN NOTHING!
Wednesday: Glee
Thursday: Supernatural, Fringe, Community, The Mentalist, FlashForward (airs mondays in the UK but I normally miss it so d/l anyway)
Friday: Peepshow (in the UK, 1 episode left)
Saturday: NOTHING
Sunday: Dexter, Mad Men, The Simpsons
My schedule is actually pretty sparse, but I'd
rather watch a few very good shows than loads of crap shows.
Other than those shows I am also catching up on some old shows: Battlestar Galactica, In Treatment season 2 and The 4400 (not the best of shows, but hasn't been
offensively bad... a few bad storylines though....Plus I like doing actor spotting. There are a few actors from Supernatural for example)
Which reminds me, Daria has been pestering me to finish my blog game (which is gonna be a TV verison of "six degrees") I can't promise when this will be done but I am going to be working on it :)
Tomorrow is my birthday :) I don't have any major plans, I'm going to be taking it easy and seeing my family. I might do something later in the week when I am feeling better.
Jodie :)
