Stanley Kubrick
Over the Past Few days i've become very interested in the films of stanley kubrick. up unil a few days ago, the only movie i've seen by him is A clockwork orange, and you can probably tell by my avatar that it's one of my favorite movies. few nights ago, my brother rented 2001: A Space Odyssey, and after watching that, i was blown away completely. that movie is just indescribable in almost every way.
So after this, i got interested in Kubricks movies, so i went out and watched Dr. Strangelove, which was hilarious, a fantastic comedy about nuclear war, and went well with playing Fallout 3. i think of that movie as how the Nuclear War started in the Fallout games (jokingly of course). Last night, i watched Full Metal Jacket, and it was fantastic. it was a war movie set in vietnam, but it was unlike any other i've seen. I would highly reccomend all of these films to anyone with even the most slight interest in movies, as these are some of the best out there.
I'm Drowning in Great Games!
Help! this is madness. i has so many fantastic games that i have to play through it's truly insane. i'll divide them up into catagories so you can get an idea of how much gaming i have to do.
Now Playing:
1. Far Cry 2
2. Dead Space
On Hold, but not finished:
1. Stalker: Clear Sky
2. Crysis: Warhead (performance issues)
3. Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
Just got, have yet to start
1. Fallout 3
2. Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway
Replaying:
1. Mass Effect
2. Crysis
3. World in Conflict
Thats about it. what the hell do i do? many of those games are really long, and i'm rather preoccupied right now, i am only able to get in 1-2 hours of gaming a day if i'm lucky. are there any lemons i should cut out?
Far Cry 2: First Impressions
Stalker: Clear Sky first impressions
Well, i've had clear sky for a while now, but up until patch 1.505 it would crash after five minutes of gameplay. well, now it works fine, and here's what i think so far.
When it works properly, the game is fantastic. Random firefights breaking out all over the place, brilliant enemy ai trying to outflank you in gunfights, and all manner of random encounters with mutants and the like. it looks fantastic after i've done some tweaking to it, and never runs below 40fps. it does, unfortunately, have some bugs. it still does crash occasionally, sometimes the ai will go off and do my objectives for me, and when i try and change the resolution in game it goes crazy.
overall, i really like this game so far, and i hope there are more patches released in the future to fix the bugs.
My new PC is up and running
Well, i'm finally finished building my new pc. Specs: CPU - E7200 OC'd to 3.15ghz.
mobo: ASUS P5QL Pro.
Ram: 2 gigs ddr2 800mhz pc 5300.
Graphics card: (will be replacing) ATI HD 3650.
HD's: One 160Gb, one 500GB.
OS: Windows Xp sp3
so yea, i've tested it with a few games, for some reason my crysis disk isn't working properly, but i've tested it with Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, it runs very well at max settings. Trackmania Nations: Forever runs well at max settings. those are the only games i've tested so far, i'm still trying to get crysis to work.
the CPU overclocks amazingly well, staying cool oc'd from 2.53ghz to 3.15, never going above 45 degrees celcius. my 8600gt didn't wan't to work with my new mobo, so i borrowed a friends old ati card until i can afford somthing more powerful. the card does suprisingly well though, and should do me just fine until i can save up some more money. the only new parts i payed for are the case, the cpu, and the mobo, and the ram, all of which i got for about $350 canadian. not to bad, eh?
