A sea of faces!

Hi everyone!

I took part in Jack Petchey's Speak out! competition at my school it was really good because we were coached in how to speak infront of a crowd. Our body language, eyecontact, pace etc it was really interesting because you could really see people developing throughout the day as we learnt new things!

Well the competition itself came towards the end of the day when we were given the task of preparing a speech about a subject we felt strongly about to present to the rest of the group. I choose the fact that the emergency services are underpayed, it just annoys me that certain porfessions get paid more when the emergency services are so valuble. Anyway I was really nervous and shaking and it soon came to my turn but when I stood up I just thought 'I'm gonna go for it there's no point my nerves getting to me'. So I blitzed through it and it turns out...

I came second Which means I'm through to the Borough final but I'm not sure if I'm a reserve or actually speaking, but it'll be a good experience!

I'm thinking of buying Knocked up and Superbad has anybody seen them and would you recommend?

Hope everyone's had a good week so far

Time, time, time!

Wow, it's nearly a year since I posted a blog so I think it's about time I did

I attented an easter school at Cambridge University last week ( for 4 days) I was due to go with one of my friends but she didn't give the letter in on time so I was left with the decision to go on my own or miss out... so I decided to brave it and go alone.

I'm glad I did because I learnt loads and had a really great time. I don't think you appreciate university and student life because you build an impression on stereotypes and the media so it was good to break out of those impressions. It also reassured me that I do infact want to go to university I wasn't 100% sure before but the indepence and overall student life really appealed to me. I know I'm only doing my GCSE's now but I want to have some idea of where I'm going.

We also did alot of "social activites" as they were called; we went bowling not one of the best things for me to do but I surprised myself by winning a game I honestly didn't see that coming with my technique We also went Punting and on a ghost walk (I never realised how much history Cambridge has). Basically I'm glad I went because I would have really missed out!

I hope everyone is well

Kelly

The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.

Hey everyone,

I got back from my holiday this afternoon after a day and a half's travelling which wasn't much fun, I've never been so glad to see our house It was a good 3 weeks and I really enjoyed myself, whereas their is usually 4 of us their was 5 this time as my sister's boyfriend came along too.Whilst in spain we took a trip into Barcelona where we saw the football stadium (Which I must say I wasn't impressed by) this beautiful cathedral in construction that is set to have 18 towers and will be finished around 2028 I believe; I can't remember the name right now but I'm sure it will come to me. We also saw the 'Magic fountains' which were fantastic , we were told that it uses 2600 L of water per second and at it's highest point reached 70m. Therefore the fountains are only shown on Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday. I will post pictures when I transfer them to my laptop

We had some nice meals out and a general good time in Spain, the weather was nice and it was quiet! France however was completely different it rained on various ocassions and was never really hot , we also had a man obviously teaching himself to play guitar and he kept playing the same song over and over even late at night Needless to say we weren't impressed by our week in France. We did have a nice day out at Aqualand though, I doubt we'll go again because it's just too busy but I had alot of fun on the waterslides. My particular favourite was 'The Wave' which is basically in the shape of a skateboard ramp and you sit in a dingy and go down a vertical drop and keep going from side to side until the water stops you and you get soaked It was a tiring three weeks but I really enjoyed it!

Elsewhere my sister was due to get her GCSE'S on Thursday but obviously we were on holiday so she opened them today and she did really well despite what she herself thought before hand. So well done Rach!

I have 8 Days until I return to school and this may sound weird but I'm looking forward to it now. I get to a point in the holidays where i just want to get back into the swing of school and just get on with it and this year I start working towards my GCSE'S I'm taking French, Geography and Public services!

I hope everyone has a good week!

Celebration evening!

So I have just returned from my awards evening! When I arrived I had no idea what my award was for turns out it was Technology. This completely baffled me as I've never really thought of myself as strong in practical subjects I've always been better at more academic stuff. So I was surprised but after I thought about it for a while I remembered the fact that I enjoyed food tech and didn't do half bad on it. Danny crates Awarded them and his speech was great, funny and really inspiring.Overall it was a good evening!
