Envy is simply an uncomparable band. The songwriting on this album is absolutely flawless. Envy combines the raw emotion of screamo with the gentleness of post-rock seamlessly. A Dead Sinking Story is by far their most powerful album to date. From the second the first track started, I was completely mesmorized. The emotion is not only shown in the vocals, but also in the music itself. Few bands can express such emotions through a guitar or a bass or drums like Envy. And each song seems to flow perfectly, having no awkward transitions or riffs. The only con about the album is the language barrier. The song titles may be in English but the lyrics are all in Japanese. Luckily for me, I'm taking a Japanese course so I can understand it somewhat. Envy did have the right idea by putting English translations in the booklet. Even if I didn't understand the lyrics, though, I would still love this band. Especially after seeing them live, I can honestly say that Envy is one of the most sincere bands out right now. They really enjoy what they are doing and do it pretty darn well. This is an incredible album and any fan of Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, or Saetia should definitely pick this up.
