FilmSpot

So, CNet have been busy again. I was clicking around MP3.com and stumbled upon FilmSpot. Which I'm on now. And quickly customised my little icon dealie.

Facebook link

I've just noticed the little Facebook links on the blog. Well, when I say just noticed I mean, this is the first time I have been on the blog in a long time so they weren't on there last night I was here. But yeah, interesting that Facebook is playing such a big part. I mean, is CNet's userbase all using Facebook? Then again I guess this is just their enterainment sites so a large percentage of them probably are. But they still have a more mature userbase at least than normal don't they?

This site is weird

There is no tab for the journal so this is just listed under profile. Well, I should probably point out I'm on MP3.com as it's all linked in now adays.

I'm a higher level on MP3.com than I am on GameSpot though, which given the level system has been around on GameSpot shows a) how much time I spent on here and b) how much time I don't spend on GameSpot.

Name changes

I notive my journal has now become my blog. As much as webmasters may want to avoid it, it looks like we are going to end up having to rename everything to blog.

Recommendations

Does GameSpot not have recommendations? I have to say, I'm a little disappointed. I know I need something to run on my new ultra-awesome computer but I don't know what to get. I am tempted to go back to WoW but it's expensive and I am pretty sure I would get bored of it quickly. I love the community aspect though.

The guys from Billy Talent took their time releasing their second album. Well, it was worth the wait. While it's not quick as fast paced as their first self-titled album, it has some real gems in there, most notably Surrender and Pins & Needles.

I Write Sins Not Tragedies has quickly been accelerated to been a indie club classic and rightfully so. It's one of Panic's best works as well as being a good song to do the alternative version of getting your groove on.

Album Review

Splinter
""
In 2003 The Offspring had the world at their feet. While the punk revival seen was waning the major artists were still churning out music and good music too. Indeed, Conspiracy of One, released 3 years prior, was one of the band's best work yet.

Then came Splinter. And while I am a huge fan I think any of us would be hard pushed to say it wasn't a disappointment. Most of the tracks lacked the combination of punk energy and catchy rifts which make the band's music so attractive.

While the album was not baron of great work, most notably (Can't Get My) Head Around You this almost added insult to injury in that the band could do better with the whole album, but didn't.

Great

Artist Review

Seether Rock/Pop
""
Seeter have done quite well in transcending the boundaries of several genres without anyone really noticing. They could be categorised into acoustic rock just as well as they could be categorised into post-grunge or even metal.

Such a mix showed up more prominently than ever with the release of their 2006 album, "One Cold Night."

While their music is not something you would label as "nobody else sounds like this" (Staind being the obvious collection at least though many more could be listed), Seether have managed to do what they do very well indeed.
