I got my renewed passport in the mail today! And I'm deliriously happy because I need it for my trip this summer, but first: PLEASE explain to me why I'm not allowed to photoshop my passport picture! I look beyond awful and no way on earth is any custom agent ever going to recognize me from this photo:

So now I'm smacking my head wondering why I was too cheap to shell out the 16 dollars to have them made again, since I'm going to be using this passport for the next ten years. Ten years! What was I thinking?! ($ 1,60 a year! Aargghhg. Too late now). *cringes*

On an upnote? It was ready in four days. which is why I am so happy, because I waited till the VERY last moment to have it renewed, despite being told by a computer recording that lasted, oh, the better part of two hours, that *everybody* is applying for a US passport nowadays and that it would take at least 3 weeks - IF I paid extra.
I don't have three weeks, I'm leaving for France in 2,5 and now I can. Oh yay. Sunshine, rest, swimming pool, lovely weather (hopefully), no wild fires and with my brand new passport that will delay me at customs, because I.so.do.no.look.like.Billy the Cat.
