Every once in a while, an artist makes it big on the pop charts with nothing but a guitar strapped to their back. We’ve seen it with acts like Ed Sheeran and A Great Big World, and now it’s Irish singer/songwriter Hozier’s time to shine. Making waves last year with the release of his Take Me To Church EP, the folk performer just dropped his self-titled LP Hozier, and graced the Saturday Night Live stage with host Bill Hader this past weekend.

The single “Take Me To Church” has been slowly but surely making its way up the pop charts, and with his SNL performance of the powerful tune, his new album has claimed the no.2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It’s his first week on the list, with Jason Aldean’s latest release Old Boots, New Dirt taking the top spot. We wouldn’t be surprised if Hozier’s LP snagged the #1 title next week!

Hozier is on his way to becoming a household name: be sure to check out his music if you haven’t already.
