Rihanna is still releasing singles from her seventh studio album Unapologetic, which dropped just over a year ago. Spawning huge hits like “Diamonds” and “Stay”, the album is well-known to be quite emotional in its lyrical content for the Barbadian star, and it’s showcased in the latest single off the record. “What Now” is a tale about losing an important love and not feeling quite whole, despite appearing just fine to the rest of the world.

Whatever it is, it feels like it’s laughing at me through the glass of a two-sided mirror…” sings Rihanna in the single’s music video, showing the pop singer dressed in all black and seeming at-war with herself in a lonely room. “The more I swear I’m happy, the more that I’m feeling alone…” is another line that jerks at listeners, reminding us all that Rihanna is not as on-top-of-the-world as we all think.

There’s been no news of a follow-up record to Unapologetic yet, but with the success it’s had so far, it looks like RiRi could potentially be taking home a GRAMMY award or two at the next ceremony.
