Tragic news to report today: Bob Casale, one of the original members of the crack-that-whip hit-makers Devo, has passed away at the age of 61. A statement made by his brother Gerald, another member of the new-wave pioneers, shows that Casale's death was caused by heart failure. He passed on Monday, February 17th and, according to Gerald, was "a total shock". Survived by his wife Lisa, son Alex, and daughter Samantha, Bob Casale's (also known as Bob 2) impact on Devo was apparent, as a multi-instrumentalist in the off-kilter group during their most famous times. The success they experienced from "Whip It", which came out in 1980, lead the song to appear at no.14 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the same statement issued by Gerald Casale, he mentioned that Devo's lead singer, Mark Mothersbaugh, was potentially going to start touring with Devo again, with Bob on board.
