This year, the 68th Annual Tony Awards will take place on June 8, 2014. The ceremony will be held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and it will be nationally televised on CBS. Hugh Jackman will be hosting the award ceremony and interestingly, this will be his fourth time hosting the Tony Awards.

Broadway shows that took place during the 2013-14 season before April 24, 2014 are eligible for awards. Here are the current nominees for this year’s award show:

Best Play :Act One, All the Way, Casa Valentina, Mothers and Sons, Outside Mullingar

Best Musical: After Midnight, Aladdin, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

Best Revival of a Play: The Cripple of Inishmaan, The Glass Menagerie, A Raisin in the Sun, Twelfth Night

Best Revival of a Musical: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Les Miserables, Violet

Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre: Aladdin, The Bridges of Madison County, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, If/Then

Best Scenic Design of a Musical: Rocky the Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Bullets Over Broadway

Best Costume Design of a Play: Act One, Machinal, Casa Valentina, Twelfth Night

Best Orchestrations: Bullets Over Broadway, The Bridges of Madison County, The Carole King Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder

Confirmed performers for this year’s ceremony include Neil Patrick Harris and the cast of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” Sutton Foster and the cast of “Violet,” Idina Menzel singing from “If/Then,” and the great Alan Cumming reprising his “Cabaret” turn. It’s exciting to put together a fantasy lineup for the 68th broadcast, it could look something like this:

Opening: “Cabaret” welcome, with Hedwig as Sally and Neil Patrick Harris

Most likely joke: It will probably be centered on “Les Miserables” since Jackman himself starred in the 2012 film. The show has been revived this year and nominated twice. Maybe he and the lead in this year’s broadway could sing the lyrics together!

Catwalk competition: Must watch entertainment between Reed Birny, Neil Patrick Harris, Jefferson Mays and Mark Rylance. I think most people are wondering who can walk the best in heels.

Best Revenge: Sarah Greene of Inishmaan will take a cue from her character and crack an egg over someone’s head if she doesn’t win this year.

Best Fight: Trigger-happy “Bullets over Broadway” or “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” are expected to gut it out with a combat-filled dance number, choreographed by the amazing people who brought you “Rocky.”

Oh and of course, we are looking forward to seeing who takes home the awards! The Tony Awards are the highest honor in U.S. theatre, it is the New York theatre industry’s equivalent to the Academy Awards for motion pictures, the Grammy Awards for music and Emmy Awards for television. Until then, you can always spend time listening to the best Broadway show tunes. Most people forget about how catchy they are.
