“Africa” is having a moment. Again. This week, Weezer’s cover of the 1983 Toto hit rose to No. 57 on Billboard‘s latest “Hot 100” chart. While the song is the now-touring band‘s biggest pop hit in nearly a decade, “Africa” has never really been off the map.

After reaching No. 1 for Toto back in the day, the song, which evokes the synth-pop 1980s like few others, became a go-to soundtrack cut for everything from Family Guy to Stranger Things. As documented by Vice’s Motherboard, it inspired a devoted online following. (No, nobody’s sure why.) And, perhaps most important, musicians kept it alive by playing it — again, and again, and again.

In honor of the song that just won’t quit, we have selected the five best covers of “Africa” — versions that make us laugh, cry and, yes, bless the rains.
